This story begins 2,800 miles from home in New York City where Jake and Erynn met on memorial day weekend in 2021. After swiping right, and a lot of texting, they decided to go out on their first date. Jake wanted their first date to be a Yankees game on the hottest day of the year but Erynn wasn't sure she was ready to be stuck with a stranger for 9 innings.
They opted instead for drinks on a rainy Sunday afternoon. While this date may have started by Jake going to the wrong bar, by the end of the night, they were certainly on the same page when it came to their feelings for each other.
After their first date, Erynn told all of her friends about Huntington boy and they spent the rest of the summer drinking spicy margaritas, going to games and exploring NYC together. At the end of the summer they took their first trip together stopping in Vegas and then CA. They met each others friends and families and by the time they got back to New York they both knew they had something special going on.
They celebrated Jake's retirement from the Coast Guard and Erynn's 30th birthday. By September, they had said I love you and the rest was history.
The majority of that next year was spent traveling, eating and moving in together. Planning their future together became more serious and by August 2022, Jake started working on his plans to propose. After a few trips to the jeweler and a conversation with Bill in the middle of the Aria casino, Jake had the perfect surprise planned for Erynn.
In October of 2022, Erynn thought Jake's parents were going to be in town for a fun weekend but much to her surprise, the weekend had so much more in store.
Jake proposed in the middle of the Hudson River on the perfect Fall day. Before Jake and Erynn moved in together in Hoboken, they used to take the Ferry back and forth from Hoboken, where Jake lived and lower Manhattan, where Erynn lived. On these ferry rides together, they planned for their future and talked about how excited they were for all their plans. There were so many memories among those waters, it was the perfect place to catch Erynn completely off guard. After the special moment, Jake surprised her once more when all of their friends and family jumped out to celebrate with them.
A year, one baby girl Hutton and a cross country move later, they are now settled in Denver and ready to officially tie the knot!
