Like any good Southerner, we met at a football game! Jake was a student at the University of Alabama, Roll Tide 🐘, and Robert was an alum of Texas A&M, Gig Em 👍. The Tide may have won that round, but Robert won Jake's heart. We didn't know the next time we'd see each other again, until Jake had an opportunity to come to Houston that January, on Robert's birthday. A clear sign that something great was starting.

We dated long distance for a while, visiting each other in Texas, Alabama, and traveling to places like Disney World, Las Vegas, and the Grand Canyon before finally moving in together in Orlando.

In our nearly 8 years being together, we moved apartments 6 times in two states, traveled to 11 more states and 3 countries making countless memories, many alongside our wonderful family and friends (that's you!).

Jake will tell you that Robert is an excellent cook and is always ready for anything, with a special way of turning ordinary moments into incredible adventures. Robert will say that Jake has this uncanny ability to keep him grounded, making every day feel simultaneously comforting and exciting, and is also a really good gift giver.

After 7 years, Robert proposed to Jake in a hot air balloon flying over the pyramids of Teotihuacan in Mexico City.
