Pittsburgh is a modern, ever-evolving city where the must-sees vary week to week. With a vibrant Cultural District, world-class museums, and legendary sports teams Pittsburgh has a little bit for everyone. And don't forget about Pittsburgh's award-winning culinary scene! Below you'll find some things to do while you're in town!
A grand view awaits you! Perched 450 feet atop a hill, this vantage point is known worldwide and gives one of the most complete views of downtown. Ask anyone who's been to Pittsburgh if they have visited Mt. Washington and they will show you all their photos. From here you can see the iconic downtown skyline, Acrisure Stadium home of the Steelers, PNC Park home of the Pirates, and the Point where the Monongahela (the Mon) and the Allegheny Rivers meet to form the Ohio.
To get up the hill, ride the Duquesne or Monongahela Inclines, which are two of the remaining historic funiculars still operating in the country. No matter how many times you go up Mt. Washington, you will be sure to see something different every time.
When it comes to local institutions, Primanti Bros Sandwiches are world famous. No visit to Pittsburgh is complete without trying one.
But what makes them so unique? The staple toppings are french fries and coleslaw, something you'd typically see as sides in any other sandwich shop outside of Pittsburgh. These toppings are then wedged between two thick slices of Italian bread, and along with tomatoes, provolone, a meat of your choosing, and an optional fried egg (a must) to complete the ensemble of the city's most iconic sandwich.
