Introducing Justin, the older brother whose unwavering guidance and humor have been constants throughout Lauren's life. From the early days of letting her play video games with him (so long as her controller was unplugged, unbeknownst to her) to sharing one year in every school together from elementary to college, their bond has only grown stronger.

Even though these cousins hated each other as early as when they were two years old, you’d never be able to tell. In college, Jake and Nick spent countless hours in Nick’s basement writing music and eventually went on a short Midwest tour with their band, Lowborne. They stopped writing music when Nick moved to Arizona, and Jake made the trip with him to help him move.

Growing up, Jake’s older brother, Drew, would always let Jake hang around with his friends when they played Xbox, poker, Risk, or whatever they might be doing. Between 1v1 kickball in the yard, introducing Jake to all the music he still loves, and letting him sit in the back of the bus with all the eighth graders as a kindergartner, Drew has always looked out for his little brother.

Kimmy became Lauren’s first-ever friend after they met in a mommy & me class at two years old, and have been lifelong best friends since then. Though they now live far apart, it feels like no time has passed whenever they get together.

The Laurens first met in nursery school when they were three years old. Their moms would refer to them by their last initials, 'B' and 'W', to avoid confusion. Funny enough, 'B' is about to become a 'W' as well!

Lauren and Steph met at work, with Steph joining the company just a month after a Lauren. During their first meeting, Lauren wrote in her notes, 'we like Stephanie :)' — this sentiment still holds true. They always try to spend extra time together during work trips, such as having a dinner date in the Eiffel Tower, where the photo above was taken.

Lauren and Ciera were introduced by Jake at a wedding. Although their conversation was cut short by rushing to the dance floor for 'Mr. Brightside', they had an instant connection. After Lauren moved back to Buffalo, their friendship continued to thrive. Jake and Lauren like to think of Ciera and her husband Nate as versions of themselves in an alternate universe.

Eric and Jake met in freshman year of high school at St. Francis and became close during sophomore year when Eric invited Jake to join his table in the back left corner of the lunchroom. In the 2013 SFHS Mini Sticks Hockey tournament, Eric pitched consecutive shutouts leading up to the semifinals, where they lost 1-0 to actual hockey players. And even though Eric is now dating Jake’s high school ex (pictured between Jake & Nate in the following photo), the two couldn’t possibly be closer. 🤪

It’s hard to find two people who are more obnoxious together than Nate and Jake. They literally had Nate’s wife, Ciera, crying with laughter in the middle of a food truck festival. They’re concert buddies, each other’s professional hype men, and far more similar than you could imagine. Jake and Lauren like to think of Nate and Ciera as versions of themselves in an alternate universe.

Jake and James met at a party in Jake’s sophomore year of high school when James was still in eighth grade. Once James got to St. Francis, Jake always made sure to yell his name in the hallway, and the yell was always reciprocated. James was always more than just a friend’s little brother. He’s the life of the party and the one who’ll make sure everyone gets home safe. Shout out to Yames.

Ben’s rise up the groomsmen power rankings is something that’ll be documented by historians for years to come. Jake knew him for years from playing 2K, Fortnite, and other games on PlayStation, despite never actually meeting in person until a friend’s wedding in 2019, when Ben walked in and picked Jake up like he was Simba. Jake’s incredible luck at stag parties can be credited to Ben, and to be completely honest—as I break the POV of these little blurbs—I really don’t know where I would be today without him.

Proposals

Jake and Lauren are master gift-givers, so of course they had to up the ante when it came to asking their siblings to participate in the wedding ceremony.

To ask Lauren's brother Justin to officiate their marriage, they incorporated Justin's favorite game, Nintendo 64's Super Smash Bros. Framed as a belated holiday and early birthday gift, they presented Justin with a yellow question mark block box, inspired by the video game. Inside the box was gelt (chocolate coins, for all you goyim out there) to represent the gold coins, along with a small plastic piranha plant holding a Goomba flash drive in its mouth. On the flash drive was a video that Jake edited himself, which you can watch here, along with Justin's reaction.

Jake and Lauren always have a great time playing board games with Jake's family, so they thought incorporating a game into the surprise request for them to be the ring bearers would be fitting. They had custom Clue cards created and snuck them into the solution envelope. During the game, they played as usual but refrained from making accusations until either Drew or Bella made the first one. Bella was the first to make an accusation and ultimately won the game but was bewildered to find additional cards inside that were not part of the original game. Instead of the typical suspect, room, and weapon, she found cards depicting her and Drew in the Garden Terrace, with the rings!
