Q: What’s the dress code?
A: Formal/cocktail attire — aka: look sharp, but not prom-night intense. The ceremony is planned to be outside (weather permitting — insert dramatic Wisconsin sigh), so bring a layer just in case Mother Nature feels spicy.
Q: What’s the weather like that time of year?
A: Ah, May in Wisconsin. Could be 72 and sunny, could be 38 and raining sideways. Pack your optimism and a jacket. We’ll roll with whatever we get and make it beautiful either way, whether the ceremony is held inside or outside!
Q: Will there be an open bar?
A: Absolutely — during cocktail hour, enjoy an open bar with our signature cocktails, wine, and beer. After the cocktail hour, it’s open bar for beer and wine only. Want a liquor drink later on? It’ll be a cash bar! One friendly reminder: please do NOT BYOB — we love a party, but we also love following the venue’s liquor license rules.
Q: Where should I stay?
A: There are great Airbnbs nearby (check them out here: https://www.chaptersonthehorizon.com/lodging), as well as two hotels in Viroqua, WI (AmericInn and Hotel Fortney). We have a room block at the AmericInn.
BUT WAIT! We also have the entire venue grounds for the weekend. Want to camp? Pitch a tent? Bring an air mattress and sleep on the dance floor? Rent a yurt?! (Yes, yurt. https://thegrazingolive.com/allure-tents) Let Jake or Lauren know ASAP if you want to stay on-site — it’s BYOS (bring your own s’mores).
Q: Will there be transportation to and from the venue?
A: Unfortunately, given the timing of hotel check-in's and the start of our ceremony, we are not able to offer transportation to the venue. We apologize for any inconvenience this may cause.
We WILL have a flexible (meaning yes, it can take you to your AirBnb!) shuttle service available at the end of the night, as we want everyone to arrive at their final destination safely. Cars are welcome at the venue overnight and can be picked up before noon the following Sunday.
Q: What should I do between the ceremony and reception?
A: If you’re in the wedding party or family, stick around after the ceremony for photos. Everyone else? Go ahead and stroll up to the reception venue for cocktails and appetizers. Yes, that means you can get a head start on the booze. We believe in you.
Q: Can I bring a plus-one?
A: If your invitation includes a plus-one, you will see it listed as part of your RSVP! If not, we still love you — we’re just working with limited space (and an even more limited catering budget).
Q: Are kids welcome?
A: We adore your little ones, but we’re keeping this an adults-only celebration so everyone can let loose. Get a sitter, enjoy a night off — you deserve it!
Q: Where are you registered?
A: You can find all of our registry info under the “Registry” tab. Your presence is truly the best gift — but if you’re feeling generous, we won’t say no to helping with the honeymoon fund or some new kitchen gadgets.
