When is the RSVP deadline?

Please may you RSVP by Friday 1st March. There are also folks we would love to invite and have not been able to, so please do let us know ASAP if you cannot make it. Thank you!

Can I come to the ceremony?

Normanton Church is our dream wedding venue, but sadly it has a maximum capacity of only 100 guests. We will have communicated if you are invited to the ceremony, and if not, we are really sorry that there will not be space. You are more than welcome to come to the church and see us go into or come out of the venue—there is lots of space around it and Rutland Water is open to the public—but sadly we cannot accommodate you in the church itself. We hope anyone this applies to will understand and we are excited to spend time with you at the reception and over the weekend.

Can I bring a +1?

Your invite will make clear if your +1 is invited. We apologise to anyone who hoped for a +1; we can only invite so many people to share our day.

Can I bring my child(ren)?

There will be a very small number of children at the wedding who are related to the wedding party. Otherwise, we love your children, but are asking folks to please leave their children at home for a night to celebrate with us.

What is the plan if it rains?

The whole day will happen rain or shine. The ceremony is inside, but a 5 minute open air walk back to the car park. The reception is under a tipi, with a 30 second open air walk to the bar and a 2 minute open air walk to the car park. Bring a brolly if you like, or brave it.

What should I wear?

The dress code for the ceremony and the reception is summer smart—think dresses, jackets and chinos. The bride will be in ivory; bridesmaids will be in auburn dresses; and the groom and groomsmen will be in light beige suits and green William Morris ties.

What about shoes?

Up to you. The 5 minute walk down the path from the car park to the church is mostly tarmac, with a short gravel path into the church itself. The walk from the car park to the reception is through a grass field, and then the floor in the tipi is matted. Gogo boots are encouraged for the party.

Will there be toilets?

Yes! There are toilets in the fishing lodge if needed before or after the ceremony. There are luxury portaloos with sinks and mirrors during the reception and party.

Will there be food I can eat?

Yes. Your RSVP asks you to please let us know your dietary requirements/preferences. Please reply and our brilliant caterers will sort.

Is it ok to take pictures during the wedding?

We would generally love it if people took lots of pictures throughout the day, and pose for photos with our super photographer Gina. However, during the ceremony itself and when we leave the church, we ask that people please do not take photos so we can enjoy the moment and Gina can do her thing.

Do you have wedding social media? Can I send you my photos?

We are not on personal social media but please please please send us your photos! You can upload them into a Google Drive that we will share more information about on the weekend, or email us at racheljamesd@gmail.com. We will also be receptive to receiving photo dumps via airdrop on the Sunday or Monday.

What's the deal with no phones at dinner?

As per our Friday dinner party rules, we would like to request no phones at the table during dinner, except for one Google. If you aren't sure of the rule, ask either of us about it sometime between now and August.

Do I need cash for the bar at the reception?

We will be putting some money behind the bar to help minimise costs to out guests. When the tab runs dry, you can pay cash or card for drinks—but as the wedding is in a field, the card terminal signal could be poor, therefore cash is recommended.
