Our Story

Turns out, most of our friends thought we were already married. Ten years later we’re doing the thing!

It's a love story, baby

We met at work, as it often goes, on a farm in Lansing where Luke was employed for several years. Started chatting about music in the Spring of '13, went to Common Ground (RIP), had an eventful Summer, and like Autumn leaves we fell like puzzle pieces into place.

We moved into the little house on Dream Acres Farm in 2014 and have been here since. The woods and fields and gardens inspired us to grow and learn and change together, and season by season we became more of ourselves. We learned to farm and grow sustainably, expanded our furry & feathered family, and stayed very bad at disc golf and dancing.

Living in the Lansing area brought us innumerable friends who have become our extra family, and we're so grateful to them and our amazing families and friends back home for sharing our joys and heartaches, setbacks and triumphs. When Luke was severely injured, our community was there to fall back on, and when he got his dream job, they were there to celebrate. We're also so grateful to everyone for the many shared meals and parties, listening to our silly wrestling tangents, and most of all supporting our crazy ideas. Everyone has cheered us on through career and job changes, and even Jamie quitting her management role in 2021 so we could start up our floral business, Fae Marguerite.

After some exciting news regarding the business in the Summer of '23, Jamie absolutely insisted that if she didn't touch a lake soon she would scream. Unbeknownst to her, Luke had a stunning engagement ring just waiting for the right moment for several months at that point. So they planned a weekend getaway to Saugatuck and Holland at the beginning of July. Fearful of losing the ring in the sandy dunes, Luke decided last minute to wait until after the beach day to make his move. The sun was hidden by wildfire smoke, but that didn't stop Jamie from burning to a crisp and being fulfilled by the water and waves. We later wound up strolling around a beautiful park in Holland, happened to climb up and explore the bandshell, and Luke proposed at center stage. Of course, Jamie had no idea at all it was coming. One lady walking by at a distance "woo!"ed at us. It was all terribly cute and silly!

Working in the wedding industry has brought us so close with many of our family and friends through their celebrations, and we've learned so much from every couple about what makes a great wedding and marriage. This decade together has softened and molded us into a dynamic duo ready to take on the world (and possibly become your next tag team champions...) We are so excited to throw our biggest, silliest party yet, and to have you here with us!
