How We Met
Our story began in November of 2015, when fate (and Tinder) brought us together. Michael, captivated by Janays beauty, didnt hesitate to Super Like her—because, lets be honest, she was impossible to miss. Janay, equally taken by Michael’s handsomeness, couldn’t believe her luck. One thing they knew was clear: these two were going to be in each others lives for a long time.
Building a Friendship
Though a romantic relationship didn’t spark immediately, something even more meaningful was taking root. Michael and Janay pursued other avenues, but the connection between the two of them grew stronger every day. They quickly became best friends, talking every single day, sharing laughs, supporting each other, and building a bond that was unshakable.
Our Favorite Things
For the next eight years, Michael and Janay did pretty much everything together. Video games became a nightly ritual, they couldn’t resist the lure of their favorite spot, BJs Brewhouse, and weekends often found them skiing down snowy slopes or canoeing through peaceful waters. Whether it was a quiet night in or an adventure outdoors, they always knew they’d have each other’s backs.
From Best Friends to Soulmates
Throughout those years, Janay made her feelings clear, telling Michael she had feelings for him more times than he could count. But Michael, ever the cautious soul, didn’t want to risk losing his best friend. After all, when you have something this good, you hold onto it tightly.
Then, in May 2023, everything changed. Janay couldn’t hold back anymore and told Michael she was in love with him. She knew they couldn’t keep pretending to be “just friends” anymore. The moment was both freeing and terrifying—and after their heartfelt conversation, they decided to take a step back. They spent three long days apart, both feeling empty and a little lost without the other.
But love doesn’t stay quiet for long. After those three days, Michael and Janay spoke for hours on the phone, realizing that life without each other was just too hard to bear. That summer, they started building something deeper—something stronger. They began to shift from best friends to something more, both knowing it was only a matter of time before they could no longer deny what had always been there: they were meant to be.
Then came October 1st, 2023—eight years in the making—when Michael finally realized that the love he had for Janay was something he couldn’t deny any longer. He asked her to be his girlfriend, and she, of course, said yes.
The Proposal
A little less than a year later, on May 30th, 2024, Michael asked Janay the ultimate question: Will you marry me? And with all the love in her heart, Janay said yes again.
From swiping right to saying “I do,” we’ve been on one incredible journey, and we couldn’t be happier. We are so excited to continue writing our story, now as fiancés, and soon as husband and wife.
