To and from the wedding venue Please note that transportation options are extremely limited in the area. There are no bus routes and one taxi. It is a good idea to plan a designated driver if you are staying outside of Ladysmith. We have arranged for groups of taxis to arrive at various points in the night based on your RSVPs. Please let us know as soon as possible if your plans change so we can make sure everyone gets a ride.

Parking is available behind the building and along the street. You can also park on residential streets nearby. Please do not park in the grocery store parking lot across the street.

Travel information from the mainland Ferries: You can take the BC ferry from Vancouver to Duke Point or Departure Bay, or the high speed Hullo ferry to downtown Nanaimo. Duke Point is the closet ferry terminal to Ladysmith by about 30 minutes. Float Planes:There are also float planes that will take you from Vancouver to downtown Nanaimo or Maple Bay. From Nanaimo, head south toward Victoria to get to Ladysmith. From Maple Bay, head North toward Nanaimo to get to Ladysmith.

Best Western PLUS Chemainus Inn is located in Chemainus, within 10 miles of Maple Bay and 25 miles of Mill Bay Ferry Terminal. With a fitness center, the 3-star hotel has air-conditioned rooms with free WiFi, each with a private bathroom. The hotel has an indoor pool, hot tub and a 24-hour front desk. At the hotel, rooms come with a desk. Some rooms include a kitchenette with a fridge, a dishwasher and a microwave. The rooms have a safety deposit box. Schedule 

We first met the modern way on a dating app in the summer of 2020 in Nanaimo. Our first date was a walk around Neck Point Park with Janel showing Jay all the geocache locations in the park. At first it was just a (very special) COVID summer fling, ending when Jay moved back to Montreal to complete his masters. 3 years later, we reconnected when we noticed our profiles on the the same dating app featured photos from a hiking date we went on together back in 2020. Through a shared love of music, outdoor sports, and road trips our love grew over the next couple years as we rekindled the old but always cherished flame. In the summer of 2025 at the end of a long hike, in the shadow of Della Falls, Jay and Janel came across a geocache. It was a serendipitous moment that Jay decided was the right time to propose. Through tears and probable heat exhaustion, it was an easy yes for Janel. Below are the photos from our hike in 2020 and then our photos from Della Falls. We can't wait to celebrate with you :)
