Our Wedding

Janet and Cody met on St. Patrick's Day in LA, waiting in line at a local Irish Pub. Janet was waiting for her date to arrive and started up a conversation with Cody. When she flirtily asked Cody what a construction worker's hands felt like, Cody obliged, and they both felt immediate chemistry. The rest of the evening, they sang and danced to the Irish band together, and at the end of the night, Janet had snuck out of her date so she could spend time alone with Cody. They knew right away something was special about their connection and couldn't get enough of each other.When Janet had to leave for school in Berkeley, they made the hard decision to continue their relationship long-distance despite its many challenges. The Bay Area began to feel like it could be a real home for them, so Cody started making plans to move up as soon as he could. When they found out they were pregnant, the timeline sped up and Cody plans to be with Janet full-time by the end of the year.They found a lovely church and have begun to integrate into the community there, and they look forward to welcoming all of you to Cody and Janet's wedding during their Sunday service.We can't wait to have all of you join us then!

This is a morning church wedding during the service, so wear whatever you're comfortable in. Most of the congregants wear casual to semi-formal attire, so anything from jeans to dresses and suits will be just fine.

Dress Code

Where should we stay? We're getting married in North Berkeley. We're still looking for housing, but we will likely move to Oakland or South Berkeley. If you want to be close to us, we recommend staying at a hotel or an Airbnb in any of these areas, but near the church might be the best option as the wedding will start early Sunday morning. If you're getting an Airbnb, it might be easiest and cheapest to stay with others who are attending, so LA folks please coordinate to get a place together if you want to save money! If you can't afford to get a place for the weekend, we would be happy to host as many people as will comfortably fit at our home, and we can reach out to church folks to see who can host as well. Please don't be shy. We're hosting this last minute and on a budget, so we understand it won't be easy for everyone who wants to attend to spend the extra money on such short notice. How will we get around? Public transportation is very convenient near us, so as long as you're staying near a bus stop or BART station, you should be able to get to the wedding and pre- and post-wedding activities easily. If you need a ride, we would be happy to scoop you up as well, and we can also help coordinate rides with others who are attending. Where should we fly into? San Francisco tends to be the cheapest airport in the area, and public transport from there to Berkeley is fairly easy. The Oakland airport is closer to Berkeley and is a slightly more convenient option.

Travel

Please join us for a free walking tour of San Francisco on Saturday morning (Jan 3) starting at 10 am in Union Square. After the tour we'll grab lunch and spend the afternoon in that area. From their website:🌟About the tour:&nbsp;The tour takes 2 and a half&nbsp;hours and it covers most of downtown San Francisco: Union Square, Chinatown, Financial District, and Embarcadero. It’s to make you feel connected with the city. Through interesting character stories, fun facts, and curious connections between them, we can show you how San Francisco was built. We’d be telling stories about places, people, historic events and current affairs; what’s under some of these buildings, influential women, gold-diggers and earthquakes. Between the stops, as we walk we have a relaxed conversations about how to get around the city so you never get tired or bored. The whole tour is 1.5 miles walking. We stop at places to sit down and we make a restroom break in the middle of the tour.&nbsp; We visit&nbsp;Union Square, Maiden Lane, Grant Avenue, Dragon Gate, Golden Gate Chinese Cookie Factory, Ross Lane, Portsmouth Square, Transamerica Pyramid, Embarcadero, Little Italy and many more non-touristic points along the way. The tour ends&nbsp;opposite Ferry Building from where you can take a walk to Pier 39 and the sea lions. It takes 20 minutes by foot to catch the ferry to Alcatraz at Pier 33. Unpacking Dinner Party

10:30 am to 4 pm Sunday, Jan 4 Our ceremony will take place during the church service, which is from 10:30 am to noon. Our reception will follow directly after in the parish hall next door. We'll have a potluck brunch (we'll share a sign-up sheet) followed by dancing.

We're throwing this shindig on a budget, so if you can bring a dish or drink to share, that would be great! Please bring enough for 6 to 10 people and label common allergens on the dish (e.g., contains meat, dairy, shellfish, peanuts, gluten, etc.).
