What is the history of Shade Mountain Farm?
Shade Mountain Farm has been in Janie's family for generations. Her great-grandparents purchased the land in 1927, when it was a working dairy farm. The Kauffman family now leases the land to a local farmer. Growing up, Janie flew from Georgia to Pennsylvania to visit her grandparents, play with Darla (the farmer's daughter) feeding the barn cats and baby cows, and spend time with all of her extended family. The farm is no longer an active dairy farm, but is still farmed for corn, soy beans, wheat, and other crops. It remains a staple of the Kauffman family and is used for holidays, celebrations, and most importantly, weddings. It is an amazing and nostalgic location. The family has done a phenomenal job keeping the farm up to date and beautiful. Major additions have been made to keep up with the growing family. We are both thrilled for you to experience this wonderful place and hope you love it as much as we do.

What's with the JW logo with the building in the middle?
Janie's friend, Molly Jennings, is a talented graphic designer and agreed to gift Janie and William a wedding logo for all of their wedding festivities. The logo is featured on the save-the-dates, wedding invitations, cocktail napkins and more to come! Molly creatively incorporated the Furman University bell tower between the J and W as a symbol of how Janie and William met!
