Harrisburg International Airport (MDT): Next closest airport, a 1 hour drive to the farm via US-22 W/US-322 W.


Altoona-Blair County Airport (AOO): A 1.5 hour drive to the farm via US-22 E.


Baltimore Airport (BWI Marshall): A 2.5 hour drive to the farm via I-83 N and US-22 W.


Philadelphia International Airport (PHL): A 3 hour drive to the farm via I-76 W.


**PRIVATE AIRPORT: the closest private airport is Mifflin County Airport (RVL): 13 min drive to the farm via US-322 W.

The Lewistown Amtrak station (LEW) at 150 Helen Street, Lewistown, PA is 7 minutes from Shade Mountain Farm and 15 minutes from some of the hotels we have reserved. This station is on many of the major Amtrak routes that hit major cities including Washington DC, Baltimore, New York, Albany, Philadelphia, and Pittsburgh. This would be a great option for our Northeast guests!

From the North (starting in Burlington, VT):

Take I-87 S to I-84. At Scranton, PA take I-81 S to I-80 W to PA-147 S. Then take PA-304 W, New Berlin Hwy, US-522 S and Back Maitland Rd to Shade Mountain Farm.

From the South (starting in Richmond, VA):

The most direct route to Lewistown during low traffic times is via I-95 N, 1-495 N past Washington DC, then I-270 N to US-15 N. Then take US-22 W to the US 22 Business W exit toward Lewistown.

During heavy traffic times, I-95 N to Hwy 17 N

at Fredericksburg, VA may be a better option to avoid Washington DC. From Hwy 17 N, take PA-75 N, then US-522 N to E Charles St exit in Lewistown.

From the East (starting in New York, NY):

Follow I-78 W, I-81 S and US-22 W/US-322 W to US-22 BUS W in Derry Township. Take the US 22 Business W exit toward Lewistown.

From the West (starting in Pittsburgh, PA):

Take I-376 E to US-22 E in Monroeville. Take I-99 N to US-322 E at State College. Take the E Charles St exit in Lewistown. Or, in Monroeville, stay on US-22 E to US-522N and take the E Charles St exit in Lewistown.

Greyhound has bus routes that run through Lewistown, PA dropping off at Lewistown (Square Cafe & Bakery) at 10 W Market St., Lewistown, PA. This stop is on many of the major Greyhound routes that hit major cities including Philadelphia, Harrisburg, and Pittsburgh.
