Our favorite way to adventure in the city and experience the Spanish life is via Barcelona's public transport system (run by TMB) which is efficient, affordable, and user-friendly. Includes metro, buses, trams. The Hola Barcelona Travel Card offers unlimited rides (including airport metro transfers) and is ideal for tourists
Current prices are approximately:

- 1 day (T-Dia): €11.55 (~$13.60 USD)
- 2 days (48h Hola): €18.10 (~$21.40 USD)
- 3 days (72h Hola): €26.30 (~$31.00 USD)

Getting from El Prat Airport (BCN) to the city center via metro is straightforward.Take the modern L9 Sud line from Terminal 1 or 2, which runs every 7 minutes and takes about 30-40 minutes total. No need for a separate ticket if you have a Hola pass; otherwise, buy an airport metro ticket (~€5.70 one-way) at the station.
If you didn't buy passes in advance, vending machines at the airport, metro stations, and major hubs offer them in English, accepting credit cards or cash.
The city is highly accessible by metro, with an extensive network covering key neighborhoods—trains are frequent (every 2-5 minutes during peak hours), clean, and air-conditioned, though note some older stations may have stairs. Many top attractions are steps from stations, including Sagrada Família (Sagrada Família stop), Park Güell (Lesseps), Las Ramblas (Liceu or Drassanes), Casa Milà/La Pedrera (Diagonal), Picasso Museum (Jaume I), Magic Fountain of Montjuïc (Plaça Espanya).

The Rodalies de Catalunya R2 Sud train is a reliable, scenic commuter option from Barcelona to Sitges, hugging the Mediterranean coast for a quick 35-45 minute ride on modern electric trains departing directly from stations like Barcelona Sants, Passeig de Gràcia, or Estació de França. Services run frequently—every 10-30 minutes from early morning (around 5:30 AM) until late evening (about 11 PM), with peak-hour intervals as short as every 10 minutes. If you're heading straight from El Prat Airport (BCN), note there's no direct service—plan for a quick transfer.
If you are having trouble finding a car rental in Sitges, this may be a good last resort! Small operation, mom-&-pops style rental company that may have a car available last minute. They are friendly and the cars are dependable. May be stuck with a manual transmission if you don't plan ahead!
