Our Story

We met the modern way on Hinge and went on our first date on November 9, 2019, at Cane &amp; Table in New Orleans. What we thought would be a simple night out quickly turned into something neither of us expected. The conversation was easy, the laughter constant, and by the end of the evening, it already felt like something real had begun. At some point that night, Jasmine laughed and said, “Don’t judge me, I eat with my hands. My family’s Ghanaian.” That small moment turned into a big one when we realized we shared the same heritage. What started as a coincidence felt instantly familiar, like a quiet sign we were meant to find each other. On March 26, 2020, just before the world slowed down, Jamiles asked Jasmine to be his girlfriend. From then on, our relationship grew naturally through everyday moments, shared dreams, quiet mornings, and the comfort of always feeling at home together. Jamiles came into the relationship with Kora, and it did not take long for Jasmine to become her dog mom too. Together, we have built a life full of love, laughter, travel, good food, and music, creating a home that feels warm and steady. Through long years of residency, moments of loss, and our happiest celebrations, we have leaned on one another and grown stronger together. What began with a single swipe became a love rooted in intention, heritage, friendship, and commitment, and we are so grateful to continue this life side by side.

Kente cloth, African (or African-inspired) print, or bright colors encouraged. Note: Guests of all backgrounds are warmly invited to wear African print. We spoke with our elders, and they encouraged us to invite everyone to participate. In this setting, the clothing is not being taken out of context or used for profit—it is being worn in celebration, at the invitation of the people whose culture it represents. Think of it as a gesture of respect and participation, similar to covering your head in a place of worship. That said, anything vibrant, colorful, and tropical that makes you feel comfortable and happy is exactly the right outfit for the evening.

Where is the wedding taking place?Our wedding weekend will take place in Cancun, Mexico at Bombay Cancun. Address: Blvd. Kukulcan Km 14.7, Zona Hotelera, 77500 Cancún, Q.R., Mexico What airport should I fly into?Please fly into Cancun International Airport (CUN). Will transportation be provided?Yes, transportation will be provided for all official wedding events after arrival from the airport. Transportation to and from the airport can be purchased when you book your hotel stay. Additional details will be shared as the weekend approaches. Where should I stay?We recommend staying at our hotel room block with Hyatt Vivid Cancun which will be listed on our website. This hotel is Adult Only. However there are resorts and hotels nearby that welcome children. These hotels are conveniently located near our wedding events:- The Westin Resort &amp; Spa Cancun- Paradisus Cancun- Marriot Cancun Do I need a passport?Yes, a valid passport is required for travel to Mexico. Please ensure your passport is valid for the duration of your stay. If you’re traveling internationally, your passport expiration date should usually be at least 6 months after your return date. How do I access the wedding room block?It can be booked through the "Website" Link under Hotel Booking. All room block reservations must be booked through DestaWed to receive the preferred group rate. Can I stay outside the official wedding dates?Yes. Group rates apply for stays up to three days before and three days after the official wedding dates, subject to availability. Can I pay for my hotel over time?Yes. Flexible payment plans are available through DestaWed. Should I book flights through DestaWed?For a smoother experience and flexibility with loyalty points, we recommend booking hotel accommodations only through DestaWed and arranging flights separately. What will the weather be like?Cancun is typically warm and tropical. (High of 83, Low of 68). We recommend light fabrics, breathable materials, and comfortable footwear. Are children invited?Yes! However the Hyatt Vivid Cancun is an adult only resort. There are nearby resorts and hotels that welcome children. Will there be food and drinks?Absolutely! Please come ready to enjoy great food, drinks, and celebration throughout the weekend. Is this an all-inclusive resort wedding?Yes, the Hyatt Vivid Cancun is an all-inclusive resort. The welcome party and brunch will be held there. What currency should I bring?US dollars are widely accepted in Cancun, but having some Mexican pesos can be helpful for smaller purchases and tipping. Will there be time to explore Cancun?Yes! We encourage guests to enjoy the beaches, local cuisine, and excursions. We’ll share optional recommendations closer to the date. While children are welcome at the wedding, This hotel is adult only. If you're attending with children, these are hotels nearby we recommend that welcome children. - The Westin Resort &amp; Spa Cancun- Paradisus Cancun- Marriot Cancun Below you will find the block rates. The amounts are TOTAL PER PERSON, not per night. So the accomodations average about $145-$165 per night, per person for a double or triple occupancy. For a room by yourself, it will be about $260 per night. Remember: That includes all you can eat and drink.
