1. Houghton Lake- Kelsey’s family tradition. Every year her mom’s side of the family all rent cottages together on the lake for a week in August. It has been a tradition since her mom was little. They hang out, golf, tube, have bourbon drinking contests, and enjoy quality time together. It’s one of the best weeks of the year!
2. Glennie- Jason’s family owns a cottage on North Lake. They love to waterski, play games, and enjoy time together. They have a group of family and friends also on the lake and the 4th of July is a fun celebration!
3. Dancing Bunnies- One of the many fine offerings that Ohio has to offer. On Kelsey & Jason’s first roadtrip together they traveled to Columbus, Ohio. En route, they stopped to see the attractions along the way. Dancing bunnies are these 3 huge sculptures with hidden objects carved into the bunnies. They were pretty cool. They may make an appearance later in the night as well…
4. Chief Leatherlips- Chief Leatherlips can be found protecting Dublin, Ohio. Jason & Kelsey discovered him on their trip to Columbus while they were “sightseeing”. Chief Leatherlips drew quite the crowd and they even had to wait to get their picture taken. He’s a popular guy who may also make an appearance later in the night…
5. Stadium Swim- Kind of like Kelsey’s heaven on earth. She has always wanted to go to Vegas for the opening weekend of March Madness, and she got Jason to tag along this past March. On day 1, they booked a pool party at Stadium Swim. Stadium Swim is on the rooftop of Circa. There was sunshine, pools, hot tubs, lounge chairs, food, drinks, and huge screens playing the NCAA March Madnesss games. They met friends and ended up going back a second day.
6. Turkey Trot- Kelsey and Jason did their first Thanksgiving Turkey Trot this past November. It was way more fun than they expected and they will likely do it again at some point in their lifetime (maybe).
7. Chrysanthemum- Jason bought Kelsey an adventure date book. One of the dates was to go to the library and find your favorite childhood book and read it to the other person. This was Kelsey’s favorite book. Jason picked “When you give a mouse a cookie”.
8. Opening Day- Jason and Kelsey have been to two opening days in Detroit together. Opening day starts at Kelsey’s parents loft downtown with some friends before going to a pre-game party and then eventually the game. They’re .500 for opening days. Go Tigers!
9. Foot Golf- Kelsey and Jason both like soccer and played in high school for the same soccer coach. This was one of the first things they talked about and bonded over when they met. Kelsey threw Jason a birthday week this past year. For the first day, his surprise was playing foot golf at Red Oaks Golf Course. It was a lot of fun and they’d highly recommend it to others looking for something fun and different to do!
10. Breakaway- EDM music festival in Grand Rapids. Kelsey and Jason went to see headliners Two Friends and Chainsmokers and had a great time! Then the cell towers were jammed and they had to walk 2 miles before getting an Uber…good thing Kelsey lived in GR while in college and knew her way around.
11. Riverbend- This was the name of the campground where Kelsey and Jason took their first camping trip! They had an early casualty as one of their pudgy pie makers melted in the fire. They recovered & were still able to make some delicious meals on the campfire. The campsite was beautiful and right on the Rifle River.
12. Rifle River- Help Jason and Kelsey clear up a debate…when you float in tubes down a river, would you call it “floating” or “tubing”? Kelsey votes tubing. Jason votes floating. Either way, they enjoyed the current moving them down a river while enjoying snacks and adult beverages.
13. Quick Lane- One of their first dates. Jason and Kelsey went to the Quick Lane Bowl at Ford Field. The Western Michigan Broncos were victorious over the Nevada Wolf Pack.
14. Drive-In- Jason had never been to a drive-in before! Kelsey introduced him to the Ford-Wyoming Drive in. They had a great set-up with Jason’s truck and saw Maverick. Unfortunately, the wifi audio was very spotty, so rather than experiencing Maverick’s audio through Jason’s phenomenal DJ speaker, they were limited to the truck speakers.
15. Rotisserie- Jason likes to eat. One night they got a rotisserie chicken and Jason ate about the entire chicken. Kelsey could not believe what she had witnessed. They now always joke about this event and will say… “remember when you ate that whole rotisserie chicken?”
16. Shrimp Scampi- This is Kelsey’s favorite meal that Jason makes. Since it’s her favorite, Jason chose to cook this the night he proposed. Shrimp scampi for two will make an appearance later in the night…
17. Uber- Kelsey and Jason met in early December. That New Years Eve they went together to a house party that Jason was DJing. As a joke, a few minutes before midnight, Kelsey was upstairs and texted him that she was grabbing an Uber. Jason was perplexed, saddened, and figured he now had another failed dating story to share with friends. When she came back downstairs, Jason was relieved and called Kelsey a turd (which is a term of endearment from Jason that he also called Kelsey the first day he met her).
18. Wrigley- Kelsey and Jason spent this last spring break visiting Kelsey’s brother and his girlfriend in Chicago. They went to a Cubs game in the freezing cold and only made it a couple of innings. It was Jason’s first time at Wrigley…he swears he’ll be back to experience the Wrigley bleachers.
19. Pineapple Puzzle- Kelsey lost a bet to Jason and had to plan a date night. She created a scavenger hunt around her house and at the end of it, they completed a Pineapple Puzzle and got Telway as Jason had been trying to get Kelsey to eat it with him for the past couple of months. Kelsey surprisingly liked it, even though she bashed it every time Jason previously brought it up.
20. Groundhogs- Jason told Kelsey his family had a tradition of waking up early on Groundhogs day to have mimosas and watch Phil the groundhog. Kelsey thought this sounded amazing and then Jason told her it was a joke. They decided to make it their own tradition and have spent the past two groundhogs days doing just that. The first one, Kelsey had a snow day, and the second one, Kelsey took a "sick day" on February 2nd.
21. Second Best- This past New Years Eve, Kelsey and Jason went to the Wings game with Kelsey’s parents. They then went to Second Best bar to ring in the new year. Kelsey and Jason met some new friends from Indiana.
22. Nikita- Jason and his dad used to love this TV series. Jason has introduced it to Kelsey and it has become one of their favorites together. They typically watch it on the projector at Jason’s house because it is on DVD.
23. Odesza- Kelsey bought tickets to this concert at DTE. Upon getting closer to the concert, Kelsey thought she bought tickets to see Illenium and Jason thought the tickets were for Alesso. It ended up all working out and being a good concert, but they weren’t 100% sure what they were getting into!
24. Michigan Meadows- Kelsey bought these golf vouchers on group golfer for Michigan Meadows golf course in Casco, MI. This was the first time Kelsey and Jason golfed together. It was over Memorial Day weekend and they had a blast! Lost some balls, but still had a blast!
25. TV Lounge- The first night Kelsey and Jason went “clubbing”. The first stop was at Detroit Shipping Company for some food and beverages before going to the TV lounge. It was a lot of fun dancing outside before heading to Old Shelleiligh for the last stop of the night. Multiple people commented how good of a dancer Jason was…he gloated the weeks that followed.
26. Red Ox- This is where Kelsey and Jason met on December 9, 2021. They got engaged December 8, 2022 and then went back to Red Ox with some of their closest family and friends on December 9, 2022 to celebrate their engagement!

28. Fancy Ramen- One of the adventure dates that Kelsey and Jason went on included going to the store to buy ramen and other ingredients to make it “gourmet”. It ended up turning out really good after adding some shrimp, chicken, veggies, etc. The Adventure Book is great for couples wanting to try some unique dates.
29. Reeds Lake- Kelsey and Jason have taken a few trips out to Grand Rapids to see friends and DJ. They like to get their workout in when traveling and spent a great morning at Reeds Lake running and enjoying the views!
30. Guess Who- On their Columbus vacation, they spent a rainy day at breweries and the most memorable was where they played Guess Who. Kelsey almost won multiple times, but Jason ended up going undefeated.
