They met on Tinder where they chatted about movies, nerdy things, resumes, and how Jason “just loves love.”
Their first date was one they never wanted to end. They saw a cheesy romance movie, ate greasy food, and kept pushing back the end time of their special evening.
That June of 2019 was a whirlwind of eating second dinners after 8 o’clock, Hannah falling asleep during every movie they watched, and falling in love.
That June ended with them taking a break. Jason was graduating, he had a study abroad trip in Europe, and would be starting his student teaching in the Mason city area. Hannah still had two more years at UNI. It just wasn’t the right time.
Just when Hannah thought it would be over for good, Jason texted her out of the blue asking her on a date. Some might say that it was a coincidence that her computer broke after that moment, others might say it was that text.
They’d like to say from that moment on the rest was history. But the next 4 years were far from it…
- Jason got a teaching job in Waterloo
- Covid hit…
- Hannah moved in with Jason
- They got a cat named Suki
- Hannah graduated college
- They were both unhappy with their jobs
- They up and quit and moved to Waukee
- They both end up working at the same school and make many amazing friends
- They continue to work on bettering themselves
- They continue to love each other fully and deeply everyday
- They continue to support each other as they are on their journey through life together
They were engaged on February 1st, 2023. After the ring had sat in the apartment for over a week, Jason rushed home one early out Wednesday. He sat on the coffee table pouring his love out for Hannah, as she sat in tears continually asking “Babe, what are you doing?” Well he was proposing in the perfect, most Hannah and Jason way. And of course she said yes!
This wedding is not their Happily Ever After, but a commitment to continue living their lives together through thick and thin and with an enormous amount of love.
