As much as we would love to tell everyone that we met while Jaycee was working as a novice detective, just transferred to Santa Barbara from Miami when Stephen, pretending to be a psychic, conned his way into a partnership with the agency leading to a whole will they/won't they thing for eight seasons... we actually met on a dating app.
However, Tinder isn't to thank for where we are now. We met in late 2019 and made things official in February 2020. When we decided to take that leap, we both knew the relationship would most likely be temporary. Stephen was scheduled to head off to Airline training just a month later and a long-distance relationship didn't seem appealing to either of us. Then the pandemic hit.
2 days before Stephen was scheduled to leave for training, we got news that his class date was rescheduled due to the COVID-19 outbreak. We didn't know it at the time, but it would be a whole year before he was finally scheduled to attend - and pass - airline training to become a First Officer.
The pandemic left a lot of things uncertain. We, as well as the rest of the world, had no idea what was going to happen. We spent almost a whole year quarantined together and luckily, we didn't let that time go to waste. We got creative with our time. We played board games, painted, cooked, hosted fake ghost tours, built forts, sat at the kitchen table for hours laughing with friends (against CDC recommendations), watched a lot of movies, and drank A LOT of wine. It's weird to say, but quarantine saved our relationship. Because of that year together, we were able to really get to know each other and build the foundation that our relationship stands on today.
