Our Wedding

&nbsp;Anthony was living a busy life between working,&nbsp;studying at college and&nbsp;volunteering at church&nbsp;every weekend. &nbsp;He had very little time to meet new people.&nbsp;Around the same time&nbsp;Jazmín arrived&nbsp;to the US. Alone in a new country&nbsp;she decided to use&nbsp;the most popular app for meeting new people, Tinder,&nbsp;and there is where Jazmín & Anthony met. A few messages led to&nbsp;video calls on Skype, and finally&nbsp;on&nbsp;a beautiful summer night they had their first date.&nbsp;The two shared&nbsp;laughs and a delicious dinner at The Distillery.&nbsp;Anthony was enchanted by her cute&nbsp;accent and&nbsp;charming personality.&nbsp;Jazmín was amazed to find out what a nice and respectful man Anthony was. They found themselves seeing each other everyday either at college or at church and&nbsp;Anthony decided to ask Jazmín to be his girlfriend, to which she happily agreed.

How We Met

Jazmín and Anthony were happily attending&nbsp;university together (Go Tigers!), but their days were numbered.&nbsp;Jazmín was&nbsp;fortunate to have a scholarship that paid for her education in the US, however,&nbsp;once&nbsp;she completed&nbsp;her master's degree&nbsp;she was required to return&nbsp;to the Dominican Republic. The couple was forced to choose, either end the relationship or attempt&nbsp;international dating.&nbsp;&nbsp;1700 miles was not enough to separate these two.&nbsp;Daily&nbsp;video calls over Skype, reading books, watching movies on Netflix became their best allies in the&nbsp;relationship. All the while&nbsp;counting&nbsp;down the days&nbsp;until they would be together again.

Going the Distance

Being together was only possible through long distance&nbsp;travel. Jazmín &&nbsp;Anthony&nbsp;took that as an opportunity to discover&nbsp;new places and expand their comfort zone.&nbsp; From scuba diving to indoor skydiving they&nbsp;continually found new ways to bring adventure and excitement to their relationship. But no&nbsp;moment was&nbsp;more&nbsp;exhilarating than seeing the other arrive at the airport one more time.

Adventures in Love

Many of the adventures they shared were, slaying dragons with swords or fighting crime as superheroes through the fun of boardgames. They played games together nearly everyday.&nbsp;Anthony was ready to pursue the next great adventure, so he put his graphic&nbsp;design skills to work and created cards indistinguishable from those&nbsp;in their&nbsp;favorite&nbsp;game. Jazmín urged him to play, not realizing they were playing for keeps. When she started the game and revealed the cards they posed a question that would result in the ultimate victory.

Dominican weather is hot and humid. According to the forecast we can expect an&nbsp;average temperature of 87 F (31 C) on our wedding day. Since our ceremony location is on the sea, we might get some nice breeze from there, so don't worry.

Our current exchange rate is 1 USD = 49 DOP (Dominican Peso). In most touristic areas you can use dollars, but if you do you&nbsp;might get&nbsp;charged a&nbsp;higher price&nbsp;so get ready to&nbsp;make comparisons and decide which currency you'll like to use.

If you are a little more adventurous and&nbsp;want to explore Santo Domingo, this is a great place to start. This hotel is located right at the Zona Colonial,&nbsp;&nbsp;the historic central neighborhood of Santo Domingo and the oldest permanent European settlement of the Americas. Surrounded by many museums, restaurants, dancing spots and the one and only Columbus Palace.&nbsp;

-Less than 40 mins from Boca Marina-&nbsp;30 mins from the airport (Aeropuerto Nacional Las Américas)

-The pool area is one of Jazmín's favorite pools in the Santo Domingo area

This is one of the most famous places in the Dominican Republic, due to its history and variety. Jazmín comes here almost every weekend.

Zona Colonial, Santo Domingo, Dominican Republic

Also known as Columbus Palace. This beautiful historical monument&nbsp;is a 22 room stone home. It was built by Christopher Columbus’son, Don Diego Colón and his wife.&nbsp;

Alcázar de Don Diego Colón

This restaurant offers Dominican food and also has Dominican live music. Feel like eating and dancing? This is your place!

Jalao

This restaurant offers&nbsp;typical Dominican food along with a&nbsp;beautiful view&nbsp;of the Caribbean Sea (Jazmín and Anthony&nbsp;love&nbsp;their&nbsp;mofongo, sancocho and natural juices).

Adrian Tropical

The Museum of Royal Houses was used as the Spanish Governor’s Royal Court in the 16th century&mdash;home to the governor’s palace, the treasury, and the courts of law. Today, the museum offers an informative overview of DR’s history.

Museo de las Casas Reales

Former 18th-century Jesuit church turned national mausoleum in 1956; it houses the remains of Dominican heroes such as Gregorio Luperón, Salomé Ureña, and María Trinidad Sánchez, among others.

Panteón de la Patria, Santo Domingo, Dominican Republic

Jazmín's favorite dancing spot. This place has 3 different areas and plays all types of latin music to get everybody on their feet.

Parada 77

One of the most ornate buildings in the city is home to the offices of the DR’s Executive Branch of government. Built of roseate marble, and designed in a neoclassical style (Anthony loved touring inside it).

National Palace

Ready for making you own chocolate from the Cacao beans? You'll have a blast with this workshop!

Chocomuseo Santo Domingo

Operated by one of the country’s top cacao exporters, this part museum, part chocolate factory offers a comprehensive glimpse of the DR’s thriving cacao industry.

Kahkow Experience

These&nbsp;ancient Taino caves and lagoons are&nbsp;an absolute beauty (these are Anthony's favorite caves in the DR so far).

Parque Nacional Los Tres Ojos

This is a very nice mall, but the reason why it made it to our list is because of its 4DX movie theater, it's the best movie theater in the DR.

Downtown Center

Jazmín and Anthony's favorite mall. It is the best place to shop.

Ágora Mall

An excellent spot to eat, drink and enjoy the view of Bayahibe beach.

Barco Bar 

Breathtaking caves and Iguana exhibit.

La Cueva de las Maravillas

Jazmín's second favorite beach. If you get there in the morning you'll get the best spots (and the best pictures). This beach is surrounded by &nbsp;all types of restaurants.

Bayahibe, Dominican Republic

This is were Jazmín and Anthony went for scuba diving. The trainers are very experienced and they even take your pictures with a Go Pro camera for free.

Sharky's Shop - Diving Dominican Republic

Jazmín and Anthony's favorite beach. Have you ever seen sand as white as this? It is totally incredible.

Playa Blanca

If you ask Anthony what is his favorite place&nbsp;in the DR, he will absolutely say Coco Bongo.&nbsp;Party the night away as you are treated to unlimited drinks, mainstream dance music, and classic club and party hits. You can also see live performances by celebrity impersonators as&nbsp;one of Punta Cana's best nightlife attractions.
