Piedmont Park

Picture of Piedmont Park
Monroe Drive NE and 10th St NE Intersection, Atlanta GA

Piedmont Park is a 189-acre urban park in Atlanta located about 1 mile northeast of Downtown between the Midtown and Virginia Highland neighborhoods. It is home to the Atlanta Botanical Gardens, multiple running tracks and trails, open fields for sports, dog parks, picnic areas, restaurants, etc. The park will be the venue of the Music Midtown festival the weekend of our wedding with multiple large concert areas being constructed. This is a great place to take a walk or run or visit the gardens while exploring Midtown if you have some down time.

Decatur's Square

East Ponce de Leon Ave by Church St in Decatur, GA

Decatur Square is an area of downtown Decatur blocked off to road traffic that is filled with restaurants, bars, coffee shops, and local stores. Great for window shopping or a quick bite or drink, this is an easy place to spend a few hours. Some of our favorite locations include The Brick Store (an amazing pub for German beer) and Leon's (restaurant with great food, drinks, and outdoor bacci court). It is also the drop off point for the MARTA if you are using that for transportation from the airport.

Directions to "Decatur Square":

Take a right out of the hotel and go ½ block to Ponce de Leon. Take a right and go ½ block , then turn right into the square.

Atlanta Beltline

Picture of Atlanta Beltline

The Atlanta BeltLine is an economic development effort undertaken in the City of Atlanta and among the largest, most wide-ranging urban redevelopment programs currently underway in the United States. The Atlanta BeltLine is a network of public parks, multi-use trails and transit along a historic 22-mile railroad corridor circling downtown and connecting many neighborhoods directly to each other. Definitely the place to be on the weekend, hop on to the main trail from multiple easy to access locations and go for a run or walk. Check out local artwork and restaurants, stop by the brand new Ponce City Market, and view the city from the perspective of the old city railway present at the time of the Civil War.

Located in the large historic old Atlanta City Hall, the Ponce City Market offers multiple restaurants, coffee shops, boutiques, bars, and direct access to the Atlanta Beltline. It is a popular new spot in Atlanta with a lot to offer and is a great place to spend some down time.
