Atlanta MARTA
The Atlanta MARTA is the subway system for metro Atlanta. It offers service from the Atlanta Airport to downtown Decatur. If you are staying at the Courtyard Marriot this will drop you off in very close proximity to the hotel. Be warned, MARTA times are not always as reliable as some other major city subway systems. This is a great affordable travel option!
Directions from the Airport to the Courtyard Marriot in Decatur:
Take the MARTA train from the airport. Entrance into MARTA is in the South Terminal. Follow the signs to the train. Buy a "Breeze Pass" for $1 and a round trip ticket for $5. Take any train line to the "Five Points" stop then take the blue line east and get off at the "Decatur" stop. After going up the escalator take the exit to the right (NOT the Swanton Way Exit). You will be on Church Street. Go left 100 yards then take a left on Ponce de Leon Ave. Go one block then take a right on Clairmont. The hotel is ½ block down on the left. It takes 45 minutes.
Courtyard by Marriott Atlanta Decatur Downtown/Emory
We highly recommend using this hotel if possible. All of the major events are in or near Decatur. In addition, there is free transportation to and from the wedding venue that leaves from the hotel. The Atlanta MARTA (see details under Transport) picks up from the airport and drops off within walking distance adjacent to the hotel. If you stay here you will not need to rent a vehicle and will be able to use public transportation only during your stay. This hotel provides the best option to make your travel between events simple and easy. There is a limited group discount for $159 per room so please book your room early! The Courtyard Marriot Atlanta Decatur Downtown is located in the suburb of Decatur, a small vibrant neighborhood to the northeast of the main city of Atlanta. It is filled with restaurants, bars, and entertainment both indoors and outdoors. Explore Decatur Square to see a sample of what the small community has to offer. A short ride down Clairemont Ave. will take you to Druid Hills, home of Emory University and the CDC. Alternatively, take a drive down the scenic Ponce De Leon Ave to take in the beautiful historic homes and to find your way to our wedding venue the Cator Woolford Gardens! Emory Conference Center Hotel
If the Courtyard Marriott is completely booked, the Emory Conference Center Hotel is the next best lodging option. There is a pre-set rate of $121 per room plus $15 for parking if you ask for our wedding party. ** Please bear in mind that this hotel is located several miles away from downtown Decatur and there is no transportation to and from the wedding venue so a rental car or taxis will be needed. When factoring in taxis and parking fees the rates are equivalent, and we highly recommend using the Marriott if possible to make your stay more easy!
