We recommend downloading the Uber application onto your smartphone before heading into San Francisco. Cabs are dandy, but Uber is super, as the saying goes (?). Just a cheaper, quicker way to be charioted around the city. IMPORTANT: Your most convenient option is to take an Uber or cab to the church. Street parking, however, is typically not a problem at the Swedenborgian; just allow an extra 10 minutes (or more) to find parking. There is also a parking garage, detailed below.
This beautiful Edwardian-era hotel in high-end Pac Heights is two blocks from the church, and where most of the bride and groom's friends and family will be staying. We'd love for you to stay there. We have a block of rooms reserved for our guests: Please call hotel for reservations and give the discount code "Hunt Abraham Wedding."
A nice midpoint between the church and the reception, and an economical option for the city.
If you're flying in for our wedding, firstly: wow, thank you! But don't forget Oakland International Airport as an option when searching for plane tickets. It's right across the Bay Bridge from San Francisco, and it's always good to compare SFO (San Francisco International Airport) and OAK (Oakland Airport) prices.
Though it is best to take Uber or a cab to the church, parking there is not as difficult as it might appear. Just arrive early, allowing an extra ten minutes to park.
There are also parking garages within four-five walking blocks:
1) Laurel Heights Campus Public Parking Lot:
This parking lot has 55 parking spaces and is available to anyone, anytime and is first come, first serve basis. You would need to purchase a parking receipt from the pay station.
2) The Jewish Community Center at 3200 California Street (and Persidio) http://www.jccsf.org/the-center/parking-garage/
Parking Garage Hours:
Monday-Friday 5:30 a.m. – 10:30 p.m.
Saturday-Sunday 7:00 a.m. – 8:30 p.m.
This revamped 1950's-style "motor inn" is kitschy, cute, and hip. A nice midpoint between the venues.
A classic San Francisco landmark. The bride says: It simply doesn't get better than the Fairmont.
To get to our reception at Greens after the ceremony at The Swedenborgian, an Uber or a cab will be convenient. For those who are driving, we have ample parking space reserved at Greens! Just use the parking code to park for free all evening. Here's the drill: Once you park in the Fort Mason Parking lot (Fort Mason is where Green's is located), go to the parking kiosk machine and enter your space number. Once prompted for payment, select "Other Options," and the phrase "Jena and Nick" should pop up. Enter the code "1219," and you're set! You don't need to put the receipt on your windshield, but do keep it as proof of payment.
A lovely boutique hotel on the Wharf.
Quaint, old-San Francisco charm, in the nicest part of Nob Hill.
A little further from the wedding venues, but if you want to explore San Francisco while you're here, Hotel Vitale is in the hip and new-er neighborhood of SoMa (South of Market). This place is chic, trendy, has a rooftop lounge... you get the idea.
Smack in the middle of the famous Union Square, the Westin St. Francis is home of the Clock Bar, where a young Jena worked as a cocktail waitress for four months that were agonizing albeit filled with some of the best creative palliatives on earth. Sip a cocktail of rosewater, coconut creme, Hendrix, and magic, and toast to quitting jobs you hate!
Nick and Jena love AirBnB, where people can book private residences all over the world for prices more reasonable (and accommodations typically far more fabulous) than most hotels. Strangely, considering the nature of San Francisco, it is a city where AirBnB prices are fairly low. We recommend checking it out, and searching for places to stay on the north end of the map (Pacific Heights, North Beach, the Marina, Alamo Square) to stay close to the wedding venues.
