2020 was a rough year for many. Most tend to block out this year of their lives. For Kyle and Jenn however, 2020 marked the year they met! It was a classic story of correctly "swiping right" during a pandemic where it was impossible to meet people in person. Jenn had incorrectly swiped right several times before meeting Kyle, but luckily for Kyle, Jenn was one of the first people he met through online dating.
With the photos pictured here, it was easy to see Jenn's love for the Patriots and for dogs, and Kyle's love for America and his family. Kyle also had a picture of himself and a dog on his profile that caught Jenn's eye, but after a deep dive the photo was sadly unable to be found.
So after a first date at a local brewery in Watertown, some axe throwing fun and spending a weekend watching Jenn's sister's dog Wrigley together, the rest was history!
Since both had an obvious love for dogs, one of the first big things Kyle and Jenn did together was adopt their dog Trot; named after the great Christopher Trotman Nixon of the Boston Red Sox who Jenn worshiped as a kid. (Kyle will tell you she was obsessed to an inappropriate level of creepiness after going through her childhood boxes while helping clean out her parents attic, but that's neither here nor there, the marriage is still on).
Their first year of living together was a bit of a roller coaster! They started in Watertown for the first 3-4 months where they enjoyed city living, going to concerts, sporting events and kayaking on the Charles river. Though they enjoyed Watertown, both were looking to have more space and a home of their own so they began to look at houses outside of the city. In August, their apartment was sold and due to a crazy housing market they then moved in with Jenn's parents on the cape. Although a rough commute for Jenn, the move to the cape was good for both Kyle and Trot. Trot had a beach and a backyard to play in and grandparents walking him 4-5 miles a day while Kyle worked from home and got to know his future in-laws very well, very quickly! To Jenn, the fact that no one had killed each other, was a good sign that Kyle would likely be here for the long haul.
Finally, in November of 2022, Kyle and Jenn purchased a home in Sharon MA. It was no coincidence that it is only a 15-20 min drive to Gillette Stadium, home of the NE Patriots. They are enjoying exploring the area and utilizing the several acres of conservation land where they often go with Trot.
On a casual Thursday night in July, Jenn came home from work to one of the biggest surprises of her life. Kyle had set up a scavenger hunt throughout their home which eventually lead to a proposal in the basement. (Due to unfortunate weather circumstances including heavy downpours and thunderstorms Kyle got nervous about proposing outside on their patio where he had planned.) He then surprised Jenn with dinner and drinks at McMorgans (a local Irish pub) with her family and friends. And since then it has been all about the wedding planning! They look forward to 2024, the year they will be married and begin to create new memories as husband and wife!
