There is nothing in the world like getting to marry your best friend. Especially when you are also training partners. Especially when you have raced together at every distance from half marathons to sprint triathlons to Ironman. We met in the water. Our favorite races are at the beach. We got engaged overlooking the ocean. So...why not get married at the beach too?!
All of you who know our story are aware of the pain and brokenness that we have individually walked through in our lives up until this point. But if you know that, you also know how God ultimately worked "all things for good" to bring both healing and restoration to each of us. Through our love for each other, He continues to make all things new. This will forever be our story. We are thankful that our marriage will further deepen and expand that ongoing process as we become husband and wife.
When I (Jenn) was diagnosed with breast cancer early on in our dating relationship at the beginning of 2020, we knew going through this trial together would teach us a lot about each other. What I didn't expect was coming face to face with a relentless love that was fiercely protective and totally unyielding. John animated the word "cherish" in a way I had never before experienced, and it came to life in how he loved me. All of you prayed us through that storm, and we have come out of it on the other side deeply grateful, forever changed, and eternally impacted.
We spent 2021 forward-facing, growing in our relationship, taking trips with friends, spending time with family, and a little racing. But being deliberate and intentional in investing in our kids has been the highlight of our year. We know that blending our families will be an ongoing process with ups and downs, but we are looking forward to taking one day at a time, trusting God for the outcome. So far I think all six of us would say things are going really well :)
We are excited to celebrate our wedding day with each of you! Thank you for walking this rocky, broken, wildly beautiful but occasionally treacherous, winding, hilly, and glorious road with us. We promise the view at the end will be amazing!
Love, Jenn and John
