Jenna used to volunteer at this aquarium during college and spent many childhood summers learning about marine life here. This is a great option for kiddos or anyone wanting to learn about the ocean and native marine species!
Carolina Beach State Park is a great place to see local plant and animal life. This park is one of the few places where Venus flytraps grow naturally! You can hike, bike, paddleboard, and fish.
We love Wrightsville Beach! A staple for any UNCW student, Jenna spent many days at Wrightsville Beach and loves the vibe. The pier is also great for fishing!
This is our favorite small-town arcade! Jenna used to frequent this spot as a child and brought Dalton in one day to have him experience the magic. He definitely is much better at the cornhole arcade game than her, but she blames the Indiana upbringing.
Love history? Love boats? Look no further! The Battleship North Carolina is a great spot to experience some history and take in the stunning downtown Wilmington views.
The Wilmington Riverwalk is a great place to grab some great food, find some unique souvenirs, and experience some nightlife! Jenna and Dalton's favorite haunts are the Copper Penny (get the onion rings), the Dixie Grill, and Gelarto (the honeycomb gelato is Jenna's favorite).
Greenfield Park is a popular location for some really cool kayaking, birding, and fishing! The prevalent bald cypress trees throughout the park are stunning and make for unique a kayaking experience!
A stunning botanical garden! If you love plants and landscape art, this is the place for you!
Another great place to see some plants!
We love a good ghost tour! Southport has some spooky spots, and this tour company gives a great overview of the history and haunts of Southport.
A great way to get to Southport from Fort Fisher (or vice versa) is to take the ferry across the Cape Fear River! The ferry schedule and fare prices can be found online. If you want to take the ferry, we suggest getting to the ferry terminal early. Summertime is a busy time for the NC ferry system, and we'd hate for you to miss your ferry due to the boat being full upon arrival.
