Our Story

Hey there! My name is Lauren. Most of you know me as "Jenna's older sister".  I met her 34 years ago in a hospital room with initial excitement. As first born, I took my management role ver seriously. Midway through childhood, I vividly recall that backfiring, as Jenna would catch snakes in our yard and with a sinister grin, chase me with them in tow. In high school and early college, she took up long distance running. I happily cheered from the sidelines, but never understood her commitment and drive for such a torturous hobby. Personally, I think it prepared her for the "hasher" life that was soon to follow. 
I remember meeting Bryan for the first time during our interview, I mean, lunch with Jenna and Tanner in Missouri.  She had joked about calling him "Clark Kent," so I knew things were looking promising.
I'm so excited to be a part of their big day! Jenna was my Maid of Honor and Bryan really knocked it out of the park as the officiant. Bryan is already "Uncle Bryan" to my daughters Claire and Nora.  Speaking of which, just like their mama, they are both taking their roles as flower and ring girls very seriously.

MJ created mischief and mayhem with Bryan at Pattonville high school.  Along with their shared love of the arts (Theater), they also shared a passion for explosives on the 4th of July.  MJ moved to California to attend California Inst of Arts, where Bryan made several cross-country visits.  MJ continues to have a passion for the arts as an editor and storyboard artist at Disney, Netflix, and Nickelodeon Animation Studios.  When he is not drafting, he is either traveling abroad, or finding more priceless beanie babies to add to his prodigious collection. 




MJ Sandhe 

Katie is an oncology nurse practitioner in Portland, Oregon. She and Jenna met as pledge sisters for Devonshire Cooperative as undergrads at Purdue, where they lived in extremely close quarters and became so intertwined that Jenna's parents questioned their daughters sexuality (sadly straight, Jenna and Katie agreed).  In the 15 years since, they have shared many of life's ups and downs.
Bryan and Katie met in 2016 and drunkely bonded over a cry session in the wee hours of the morning- Katie then knew Bryan was "the one" for Jenna. Katie is so grateful to have found a lifelong sister in Jenna and cannot be more excited and proud to celebrate the beautiful love her bff has found with Bryan.

Kyle moved to St. Louis in 2005 as a Jr. at Pattonville High School, where he met Bryan and they quickly became good friends. Bryan and Kyle attended college and roomed together in Columbia, Mo. Kyle later returned to St. Louis to finish his studies, earning a Masters in Applied Analytics at St. Louis University. Kyle married his wife, Amanda in 2016, with Bryan and MJ at his side as his groomsmen. Kyle now resides in Boston with his wife, dog, and 3 cats.

Ronnie is from Kansas City, Missouri (the better side) and met Jenna while in Grad School at Mizzou. While there, they bonded over a shared love of science, lifting heavy things, and beer scavenger hunts. Not to mention the grueling trials of earning a PhD!  Ronnie loves traveling, especially her post grad school friend-cations to explore Scotland and lower peninsula of Michigan.  When not traveling, Ronnie likes to escape the midwest by reading way too many fantasy and romance books.

Osvaldo J. Vega Rodriguez, better known as Valdo, is a dedicated lab manager at Michigan State University. He first crossed paths with Bryan and Jenna through a drinking club with a running problem in Lansing where camaraderie and fun quickly turned into meaningful friendships. Proud to be part of the groom's party, Valdo is excited to celebrate the special day with the couple and share in their joy and love.

Ellee is a science educator currently based in Minnesota. She and Jenna met in grad school at Mizzou, where they bonded over memories of New Mexico, a love of science, and maybe just a few of the trials and tribulations of a PhD. Since "adopting" Jenna into the Biology Grad Student cohort in 2014, they have shared many adventures and pack of amazing friends. This eventually came to include Bryan (or "Clark Kent" as Ellee called him in early days... maybe still does now..) who graciously exchanged (endured?) hundreds of cat "snaps" over the years.  Ellee has loved having Jenna and Bryan in her life and can't wait to help celebrate their next steps together!

Claire and Nora Johnson

Nancy (Houghton) was born in Michigan – just a few miles from where Jenna and Bryan currently reside. At age 2, her parents uprooted her from the cold harsh winters of Michigan, to live in Albuquerque, where she
stayed until marrying John in 1981 and being dragged around the country as he pursued a variety of degrees.
John was born in North Carolina. Like Nancy, he was relocated to New Mexico in the early 1960’s. After 38 years of teaching as a professor, John just retired from Purdue University. Now he will have plenty of time to help Bryan and
Jenna with home repair projects (physical labor), economic discussions, venison jerky production, and foreign car restoration. Most importantly he will be there to see his amazing daughter Jenna exchange wedding vows
to an equally amazing young man, Bryan.
Nancy & John have lived in West Lafayette for 35 years where they raised two dynamic daughters and are currently working on spoiling two awesome granddaughters. Their hobbies include gardening, fishing, raising chickens, and Nancy finding various jobs to keep John busy.

Melissa Tanner (Geil) was born and raised in St. Louis Missouri where she met Alvin (Al) Tanner who was born and raised in Steelville Missouri. Melissa and Al were working at Emerson Electric when they met. 
 Melissa enjoys fishing, hiking, and trying new crafts. Al currently works as a Laborer with Missouri American Water and is planning on retiring as soon as the new home is finished. In his free time Al enjoys fishing, tinkering in the garage, and helping his son, Bryan over the phone with home improvement projects. 

Melissa and Al met Jenna for the first time while hiking for Melissa's Birthday and could tell right away that Jenna was very special to Bryan. Melissa and Al could not be happier for Jenna and Bryan, wishing them a lifetime of happiness and love.

We recommend the Holiday Inn since it is next door to the party!However, feel free to explore the other hotels in Lafayette or West Lafayette area.Please be sure to Reserve a room soon, as these hotels tend to book fast during Purdue semesters.

For those driving to the wedding:Parking near the venue may be limited. However, street parking in Downtown Lafayette is available.

Barricades for street front parking and permission to use the First Baptist Church lot for parking have been granted. Attached, is the directions to Duncan Hall from the church. Please do not park on the “Daycare” side of the lot.
