The Archdiocese of Detroit is encouraging all visitors to wear masks inside church. By October 16th, the Detroit Athletic Club may have the same policy in place. Please bring a mask just in case.
We have several elderly and immune compromised loved ones attending both parts of the celebration and would like to keep them (and everyone) safe throughout the day. The beautiful rooftop event space on the roof of the DAC has limited capacity and we will be in relatively close quarters. As such, we're asking that anyone not vaccinated get a Covid test in the couple days leading up to the wedding. We don't need to see the results, but would be grateful to you for making the effort to ensure everyone's safety.
What kind of ceremony is it?
A beautiful one! We know that some people choose to skip wedding ceremonies and go straight to the reception. Don't do that this time. We promise you won't regret it. Sweetest Heart of Mary is the oldest Polish Catholic Church in Detroit, is the largest church with the longest aisle and oldest pipe organ and simply a breathtaking cathedral that you won't want to miss. The ceremony itself will be spectacular (it will be a full Catholic mass). The organist is phenomenal and there will be an accompanying trumpet player. We've made sure that our ceremony is something you'll remember for years to come and we want you there to celebrate with us in what we think is the most beautiful place of worship in all of Detroit.
I never make it down to Detroit. Is it safe?
Yes! The parking area at the church has security guards and a secure parking lot. When you head over to the Detroit Athletic Club (no more than a mile South on I-75) you will be able to self-park in the secure garage or use the valet. Both are complimentary. There will still be plenty of daylight when our brunch celebration is over at 4pm, so you can safely explore the city or retreat to the suburbs. :)
Done at 4:00? Then what?!
Have fun in the city! Go explore. Have a nice meal. Check into a hotel. Go try your luck at the casino. Take a nap (you'll be in a food coma after indulging in the delicious DAC brunch spread we've got in store for you). Then, meet us in the evening at Monarch Club - only a few blocks away in the Element Hotel. We will definitely need a nap, but plan on being out on the town to celebrate into the night with anyone that wants to stay in the city.
Bow tie encouraged? But I don't have one!
No problem! Check out www.tiebar.com for some great options. We'll also have a basket of them as you walk into the church if they're really not your thing. Since the wedding is early in the day, black tie seemed too formal. But, since Nick loves bow ties, we thought it would be fun if people wore them to the wedding. No pressure. We'll still be thrilled to have you there without one on.
