Jen and Kendall met in high school and dated for six months before parting ways for college. It was your typical high school romance, chock full of cheesy mixtapes and LiveJournal posts. They joke that they took an eight-year break but really they both just did their own thing -- they remained friends, went to school, lived in different states, and casually stayed in touch thanks to Facebook posts here and there.
In Fall 2011, Kendall was living outside Boston and Jen was living in DC, but she was drawn back to Massachusetts to be with her family during her Dad's much-too-short battle with pancreatic cancer. During the first week back in Massachusetts Jen called Kendall to hang out (just as friends), but after a hike at Callahan Park and some mac n'cheese, they were well on their way to dating again!
The last five years of their relationship have been a whirlwind of fun road trips, brewery visits, snowshoe treks, ice fishing expeditions, waterfront camping trips, quiet nights on the couch, hikes in the White Mountains and the addition of their pup, Omar Little. In between all of the excitement, they picked up quite a few important lessons about life and love with family and friends.
Kendall popped the question during a surprise weekend he planned in Portland, ME. He took Jen on a ferry to Peaks Island where they rented bikes to take around the island. Halfway through their ride, they took a break on a jetty overlooking Wharf Cove. Kendall offered Jen a snack from his bag, but she wasn't in the mood for one. When he pulled a ring from his bag, however, she changed her answer and gave an enthusiastic "yes," complete with a big smile and more than a few tears. The rest of their weekend was spent celebrating with tasty Maine beer and excited phone calls to family.
Over the last year they've been busy planning a wedding celebration to bring their family and close friends together on Saturday, October 1, 2016 to witness their love through marriage. <3
