Located in the popular Chautauqua recreation area on the west end of Boulder, this 3.4-mile out-and-back hike features beautiful views of the city and flatirons, as well as a natural rock arch formation at the top. Note that there is significant elevation gain and will likely be lots of other folks on the trail. This is one of our favorite hikes around Boulder and the first one we took Jasper on during COVID.
Hike up to the alpine lake where we got engaged! This 5.2-mile out-and-back trail is located in Rocky Mountain National Park, just outside Estes Park and about an hour north of Boulder. A moderately challenging route with some significant elevation gain, it takes an about 2.5 hours to complete. This is a very popular area for fishing, hiking, and snowshoeing, so you'll likely encounter other people while exploring.
The Pearl Street Mall is a 4 block section of Downtown Boulder home to 200+ stores and a unique rustic charm. It's easily walkable from end to end and a favorite tourist and University of Colorado student destination. The Pearl Street Mall has been around for 40+ years and is a must see part of the city. There are many great restaurants, bars, cafes and shops to explore!
Scott Carpenter Park is comprised of a lush grass field with access to Boulder Creek as well as a swimming pool, skate park, and the iconic rocketship playground. We have spent many evenings here picnicing, hammocking and walking by the creek.
Eben G. Fine Park is the best place in Boulder to cool down on a hot summer day. Here you can lounge along the banks of the Boulder Creek, rope-swing into the chilly water, and take shelter under the historic stone picnic shelter. We've spent many summer days here tubing the creek and soaking in the sun.
We frequented Doug's at least once a week while living in Boulder. Their breakfast/brunch is out of this world and they are home to the best breakfast burrito we've had yet. We recommend their breakfast burritos (specifically their roader burrito meal deal) and papas plates.
This is a fun brunch place that is a classic spot among university students and families. They have delicious coffee and breakfast options, a necessity after after a night of drinking! That being said, they get very busy on weekends so wait times may be extra long on Saturday and Sunday.
Located in the shopping center at Arapahoe & 28th, Tiffins is one of our all-time favorite Indian restaurants! Everything on the menu is amazing. Our favorites are their butter chicken, tikka masala, korma, and saag paneer.
Bento-ria was one of our favorite quick dinner spots on the Hill while we were in college. They offer delicious poke bowls and sushi rolls even on college student budget. They have since moved since we graduated and are now in the Hilltop Food Court.
For decades, the Mosleys have been enjoying all-you-can-eat spaghetti at the Gondolier. We've been there many times and both agree that it is some of the best Italian food in Boulder.
Located just off Boulder’s famous Pearl Street Mall, this is our favorite spot for happy hour margaritas and tacos. They offer good eats in the stylish dining area and great nightlife on the rooftop overlooking the city!
