For those of you unfamiliar with that phrase it’s defined as to like or accept someone; while swipe left means to reject them. The meaning of these two phrases is basically the core of online dating.
Written in Jenny’s perspective…
AH, the beautiful world of online dating…easy, convenient, a way to be brutally honest and picky. Luckily for Mike and I we were both swiped right!
When we connected, I made it clear to Mike that I had been strung along and blown off too many times on the app and wanted to meet and not play games. Thankfully we were on the same page and began getting to know each other.
Mike was so sweet. He called me “miss”, was polite and seemed genuinely interested. I developed a crush on him pretty quickly even before meeting. We decided to meet within the first one to two weeks of connecting online.. my mother telling me as I’m walking out the door that this ‘was a first date and I wasn’t going off to move in and get married’.
After that meeting, and reflecting on the connection I felt we had, I texted him that night and said that I liked him a lot and I was going to set my online dating app to inactive. He told me he felt the same way.
We both traveled to similar areas for work and it made seeing each other during the day pretty easy- quick visits just to say "hi, I like you." Friday nights were a regular and weekends were filled with fun times and adventures.
Three short months later, I was moving in to his home in Washington. We always spoke of the future like it was never going to end. He always felt like home.
On the morning of Monday, May 16th 2023 we went out for a walk with the dogs down our little dirt road before work. I was walking Ellie while Mike had Keno and Star. 10 minutes into the walk and on the way back Mike stopped and grabbed my shoulder and said "Hold on, I have a rock in my shoe, hold the dogs." I was facing away from him holding the three dogs while he was behind me "getting the rock".
"Hey babe, turn around"
"WWHHHHAAATTTTTTT!!!!" I turned right back around in complete shock as I'm silently screaming. When I comprehended what was actually happening and turned back around to face him there he was, open ring box in hand, on one knee with tears in his eyes and some sniffles to go with them.
"Will you marry me?"
"YES!"
He stood up and we kissed, pushed the ring on my finger and we walked home hand in hand, engaged!
