Our Wedding

Our story

&nbsp;&nbsp;Our Story It started when a friend of Jess told her to apply to Extera charter school. Jess took her friend's advice and soon started working there, which was the same school Alvaro worked at. They later learned it was Alvaro who recommended this school to Jess’ friend, so technically Alvaro is the reason Jess came to work at the same school.&nbsp; After working together for a year, they started socializing in and outside of school. At school, Jess wanted Alvaro to eat lunch with her, but Alvaro needed some convincing to not eat in his classroom. It took Jess stealing his lunch box until he decided to each lunch with Jess. They started to eat lunch every day after that.&nbsp; Their first date was during the Red Sox-Dodgers World Series. In fact, they stayed up wicked late talking during that super long game.&nbsp;It was then that they discovered their feelings towards one another. Their first official date was the night the Red Sox won the World Series, an exciting time for Jess.&nbsp;&nbsp; They made the relationship official on November 13, 2018.&nbsp;Throughout the next few years, they went on many vacations together including a Spring Break trip through Oregon and Northern California. Yes, many wineries and tasting rooms were visited.&nbsp;They also visited Rhode Island and Maine many times seeing family and friends, including many boat trips on Rowe-Mer.&nbsp;Trevor, their dog, loved going on walks and runs with Alvaro, eventually getting up to two-mile runs together!&nbsp;&nbsp; During the pandemic of 2020, wine and cheese tasting became a staple Saturday night for Jess and Alvaro. They would log into Zoom and enjoy 6 new wines and 4 new kinds of cheese from their favorite wine/cheese shops.&nbsp;This was a fun and relaxing activity during the stressful pandemic. Trevor loved these wine and cheese tasting too, always getting extra cheese from both of them.&nbsp; On November 13, 2021, to Jess' surprise, Alvaro arranged a beach proposal on Manhattan Beach, California. The sun was setting, and Alvaro got down on one knee. After repeating the question a few times due to Jess being in shock, Jess enthusiastically agreed to marry Alvaro. Jess was surprised again when she saw Alvaro arranged to have Alvaro’s brother and mom and Jess’ parents waiting for them at the restaurant.&nbsp;And to top off an already perfect evening, Alvaro found a restaurant with multiple chardonnays for her to choose from and which offered New Bedford scallops, a favorite of Jess’. It was the perfect evening.&nbsp;&nbsp; Jess and Alvaro are so excited to share their wedding with you and can’t wait to dance the night away while enjoying a delicious glass of wine! Trevor is equally excited to officially have Alvaro as his dad.

Beth and Jess have been friends since 8th grade when they shared a stand at the community band in the summer. They were instant friends and have continued being close friends ever since. They love going to their favorite resturant in Warren, RI every time they're together.

Beth Diomede

Jess and Martha met at Providence College (Go Friars!) when they were in pep band together and sang in the liturgical choir. They continue to be close friends and enjoy sour beers together whenever they get together.

Martha Sprague

Jess and Adrianna met at Extera Public schools and became fast friends. They taught middle school together and soon both became Torros, graduating from CSUDH with their Masters in School Leadership! They share a love of teaching, happy hours, and good food.

Adrianna Travers Rios

Daniel is the little brother of Alvaro. Even though he can be annoying at times, Alvaro loves him very much. They share a love for gaming--where Alvaro tends to win most of the time. They also love to go watch the new Hollywood blockbusters at the big screen.

Alvaro's brother from another mother. They have known each other since sixth grade where they attended Pio Pico Middle School. Even through the fierce Smash Bros., FIFA, and beer pong tournaments--where Alvaro has always been victorious-- they continue to be best friends.

Alvaro's brother from another mother. Alberto and Alvaro have been friends since high school where they attended LA High. Their love for Blink 182 and punk rock had them rocking out in all types of concerts. Never ever a dull moment when Alberto and Alvaro meet up, they continue to be best friends even when adulting has gotten in the way. 

Alberto Zamora

Marco and Alvaro met after college through a mutual friend. They both grew closer as they shared a passion for all that is futbol (soccer), the LA Galaxy team, trying out new foods, beach soccer, and exploring new and fun places all over Los Angeles. Alvaro and Marco have become the best-es of friends. Alvaro is the best man for Marco's upcoming wedding as well.

Flights to Ventura/ Oxnard: Air travel&nbsp;to and from Ventura/Oxnard is available via Los Angeles, Burbank, and Santa Barbara airports with connecting flights to all major cities worldwide. The closest airport to Ventura with direct and connecting flights all over the country is Santa Barbara Airport just 30 miles north of Ventura/Oxnard. Flying in and out of Santa Barbara Airport is about as easy as it gets. The airport is small and allows travelers to get through security and pick up their bags in minutes.&nbsp;The Airport is 30-45 minutes from Ventura/Oxnard along California’s iconic Highway 1 with beautiful views of the Pacific Ocean the whole way. The larger Los Angeles (LAX) and Burbank airports are also popular gateways to Ventura/Oxnard. Los Angeles International Aiport, 60 miles south of Ventura, offers direct flights from around the globe. Burbank Airport, about 70 miles southeast of Ventura, is much smaller than LAX with plenty of flights to/from destinations all over the United States.
