In the Beginning

I would have liked to say our story began like many do, in college. While we both attended San Francisco State in 2016, the truth is we met like so many couples did at the time: on Tinder. I liked her green hair, she liked my noodles.

Reel it in

One interest we quickly realized we shared was film, specifically suspense and horror. On our first date we went to see a John Carpenter double-feature at the Roxie Theater.

And since then we've been to the theater hundreds of times. For years on end we would get as often as we could afford to, up to two or three times a week.

Picture Perfect

Over time we each developed our own hobbies and found passions to pursue. One that I picked up early on in our relationship was photography. Naturally, I had the perfect model to practice on and Winter (not always so willingly) obliged. Many of my favorite photos from her are from our first few years together.

The love bug meets the travel bug

As our relationship developed and we pursued our studies, we got somewhat restless of staying in San Francisco. With what little money we'd scrounged up from part-time work (and the generous standby benefits my mother got as a United Airlines employee), we spent the next few years traveling during our time off from school. Both domestically and abroad.

A lot of us picked up new hobbies during the pandemic. For some it was knitting, or maybe collecting stamps. For winter, it was plants. It started modestly with just a few herb planters on our back porch.

Or growing some marijuana like any good Californian should.

But her passion steadily grew.

Eventually my recent experience with video production from journalism school and winter's passion for botany came together in the form of our short-lived youtube series: PJ Plant Talk. Every episode, Winter would don a new pair of pyjamas and share plant tips, recommendations, and tutorials.

Animal Farm

Winter and I love her plants, but we had so much more love to give. As long as we've been together we've shared a passion for caring for animals. It started small when we lived in my mom's garage, literally.

But what Winter always wanted was a proper animal companion, someone she could play with, care for, live with. Soon after we moved into our own apartment, that's when she adopted

Arlo

Arlo loves going to the park, meeting new people, and is even gentle enough to let Winter constantly dress him up.

We recently moved again, and a little more living space meant we had room for one last member of the family.

Frida

Frida is more cautious than Arlo, always weary of new people, but much clingier. She can't stand to be away from either of us for too long.

Our biggest fear was always that Arlo would feel threatened by Frida or that they wouldn't get along, but after three days they became lifelong friends.

Gotta Catch 'Em All

Winter's love for animals crosses from the real into the fictitious with her love for Pokemon.

What started as a childhood fascination with the series has followed her throughout her life, most recently through her participation in the Pokemon Regional Championships, which we've attended four of in the last year.

The long and winding road

As this special day in both our lives approaches and we look back at the memories we've shared, the life we've built and the bonds we've made with one another, all that's left is to look ahead to the next ten years together. And the next ten after that. And the next ten after that.

Event Details

Our ceremony is being held at the Chapel of our Lady in San Francisco, and our dinner and reception are being held right next door at the Presidio Officer's Club.

Our ceremony will begin at 5 PM. Please be sure to give yourself some time to arrive early to ensure you are in the Chapel when the ceremony begins.

Both our ceremony and reception will be held indoors.

Guests and Plus Ones

All guests are already accounted for in our invitations and RSVP envelopes. Your RSVP will be addressed to all the invitees in your household.

No children are invited. Our youngest permitted invitees are adolescents.

As much as we love our furry companions, no animals are allowed at this wedding. If you require a service animal, please reach out to us for accessibility accommodations.

Travel and accommodations 

There are no hotel room blocks. Guests will be responsible for providing their own accommodations. We have included a list of hotels in the city at a variety of price points to make sure everyone has a place to stay.

Transportation will not be provided to or from the venue, though it is easily accessible by car, rideshare or even public transit!

Yes! The Presidio Main Parade Lawn has a massive outdoor parking area, as well as copious street parking nearby.

Food & Drink

Our dinner will be buffet style, guests will serve themselves from a variety of salads, appetizers, and entrees.

Absolutely! When you RSVP, there will be a section to let us know of any dietary restrictions you might have. But we have already done our best to provide gluten-free and vegan food options.

Our reception will feature an open bar, but please be sure to tip your wonderful bartenders!

Getting to San Francisco from SFO

Car Rental

San Francisco International Airport has plenty of car rental services on-site, easily accessible from your arrival terminal via the SFO Air Train.

The address for all car rental services is: 780 North McDonnell Road.

Rideshare

All rideshare pickup is now located on the 5th level of the Domestic Garage, located in the middle of the airport with all terminals forming a sort of "ring" around it.

When ordering your ride, you will be able to designate a pickup area (A-G) that is closest to your terminal's exit.

Public Transit

San Francisco International Airport is connected to San Francisco and the entire Bay Area via BART (Bay Area Rapid Transit).

The BART station is located in Terminal 3, and is accessible from the other terminals via SFO's Air Train.

Getting Around San Francisco: Public Transit

San Francisco is home to one of the most reliable, extensive and sophisticated public transit systems in the United States. The entire city is accessible by train or bus via MUNI and is connected to the wider Bay Area via BART.

MUNI Trains

Muni trains run along the city's busiest corridors, including most of downtown.

The F train, which is San Francisco's old-school rail system, runs above ground on Market St. between Castro and Embarcadero.

Muni Buses

MUNI buses form a complex web of routes that can get you to just about anywhere in the city in a matter of minutes.

Some notable lines that run by famous San Francisco landmarks and historic neighborhoods are:-The 38 Geary: Runs from the cliffs of Land's End to downtown.-The 14 Mission: Your gateway to San Francisco's vibrant Mission district.The 24 Divisadero: Will take you from the Castro up past the famous Painted Ladies.

Cable Cars

What's a trip to San Francisco without taking the cable car? These railways are as much a part of the city's history as they are its present. Take one from downtown up over the hills and towards the bay and enjoy stunning views.

BART

Looking to get out of the city and explore other parts of the Bay Area? Bay Area Rapid Transit (BART) connects the city by the bay to many other interesting cities. Use BART to check out sights from silicon valley to the Berkeley Hills.

The Ferry

Feeling nautical? San Francisco's Ferry departs from the Embarcadero terminal downtown and can take you to the coastal town of Sausalito, or up into the Marin headlands for some prime hiking.

Clipper

All public transit in the Bay Area, whether it's MUNI, BART, or the ferry, is paid for using our Clipper fare system. You can pick up individual fares, day passes or a proper clipper card at kiosks located in most major train stations.However the simpler way now is to simply add Clipper to your phone's wallet app, load it with some money and tap to pay your fare.

Getting around San Francisco: Waymo

The future is here, people! San Francisco is leading the way in self-driving technology. The most popular service, Waymo, is available for anyone to download, sign up for and try.

These driverless cars will pick you up, get you through traffic, and drop you off at your destination without hassle. Play whatever music you see fit, set the AC to your liking, or just sit back and enjoy some alone time without having to make awkward small talk with a driver.

Getting to the Wedding

Our wedding ceremony, dinner and reception are all located mere steps from each other in San Francisco's historic Presidio district, located on the Northern side of the city, nestled between the Pacific Ocean and Bay, and home to our famous Golden Gate Bridge.

There are four main entrances to the Presidio. To the south you have 25th Ave. (blue) and Highway 1 (red), and to the East you have Lombard St. (purple) and Marina Blvd. (black).

Our Special day will be kicking off at the Chapel of our Lady, address: 45 Moraga Ave.This venue is located at the southern end of the Main Parade lawn.

There is ample parking, both free and paid, along the entire main parade lawn.

The main MUNI buses that have stops in or near the Presidio are the 43, 30 and 28. Please note that most stops are on the edge of the Presidio and there will be some walking required to get to the venue from the stop.

Golden Gate Bridge

Arguably the city's most famous landmark, get stunning views from either the San Francisco side or the Marin Headlands side.

Painted Ladies

Feeling nostalgic for the days of Full House? Come feel like Bob Saget and marvel at the iconic homes near Alamo Square.

Pier 39

San Francisco's most notorious pier located at the entrance to Fisherman's Wharf holds some of its most unique denizens: sea lions. Enjoy watching them sunbathe and bark loudly at one another, just be prepared for the smell!

Coit Tower

Standing tall on one of San Francisco's highest peaks is the beautiful Coit Tower. Get a sweeping 360 of the city and the bay.

Palace of Fine Arts

Originally built in 1915 for the Panama-Pacific international Exposition, this beautiful structure and its surrounding lagoon are an ode to Neoclassical architecture that will transport you to old italian basilicas.

Vibrant neighborhoods

San Francisco is host to a plethora of diverse, historical and fun neighborhoods that offer their unique flair and can be entertaining to even just walk around.

Haight Ashbury

Come experience the place where the hippy movement was born! The Haight still carries that psychedelic feel, though now updated to meet a more modern sensibility. Here you'll find everything from head shops to boutiques and thrift stores. For the musically inclined, definitely check out Amoeba records.

Chinatown

Visit the world's densest, most authentic chinatown. San Francisco has a rich history of immigration from china, in particular hong kong. Come in the early afternoon to feel the hustle and bustle of crowded produce markets, and grab some hot, delicious dumplings to fuel your adventure.

North Beach

Right past Chinatown you'll arrive in North Beach, San Francisco's Little Italy. Here you'll find some of the city's best pizza, pasta and bar hopping streets. Grab some cold cuts or a deli sandwich and enjoy a picnic in Washington Square Park!

Mission District

With its undeniable charm and working class chops, the Mission is one of San Francisco's most culturally enriching neighborhoods, if you can handle a little grit. The immigrant population has turned the mission into a culinary Mecca, with the unmistakeable aroma of freshly cooked carne asada wherever you go. Stop at a boutique on Valencia St. or have too much tequila at one of Mission St.'s many dive bars.

Castro

Time to get fabulous honey! San Francisco is often considered the gay capital of the world and the castro is its gayest neighborhood. Experience the beauty, fun and warmth that san francisco's queer district has to offer. Just be ready to see (and hell, why not show) some skin. And of course, be sure to catch a drag show while you're there!

Take a hike

San Francisco is an urban wanderer's dream. Home to the United States' largest urban park (much bigger than even Central Park in NYC), multiple beaches and enough hills to give you quads like Ronnie Coleman.

Golden Gate Park

With over 1,000 acres to explore, Golden Gate Park is absolutely massive. Be ready to spend an entire day if you want to see everything! For real troopers out there, you can try walking from its Eastern tip in the Haight Ashbury all the way to its Western end at Ocean Beach. Be sure to check out its numerous gardens such as the Botanical Garden, Japanese Tea garden, and Conservatory of flowers.

Ocean Beach

What Ocean Beach lacks in warm water and sunny skies, it makes up for with personality. Tall cliffs on its northern end, and sand dunes stretching along its 3 mile length make for a great stroll down the recently closed great highway. There's something about that salty ocean air that heals the soul.

Embarcadero

Walk along San Francisco's iconic piers on the Embarcadero. Head to the ferry building for a plethora of vendors, shops and restaurants, walk under the massive Bay Bridge, or stroll all the way to our beautiful ballpark.
