Q & A

What will the weather be like?

Our average daytime highs in the 60's and night time lows in the 50's. While it doesn't rain every day rain is common here in Alaska and everyone should be prepared for it with a waterproof rain jacket and shoes.

Where is Cooper Landing and how do I get there?

Cooper Landing is a 2 hour drive south of Anchorage on the Kenai Peninsula. If coming from out of state we recommend flying into Anchorage renting a car and driving to Cooper Landing. Please see the travel section on our website.

Are the bugs bad?

its all about perspective. If you are a trout no. if you are a people yes.

No but really are the bugs bad?

The bugs are usually bad by most standards but not by Alaska standards. If you are concerned bring bug repellent or long sleeves & pants.

Do I need to worry about bears or other wildlife?

You can encounter large wildlife anywhere in the state, even inside (see links below)! Be aware of your surroundings when you are outside. If you are going on a hike we recommend talking to make noise so you don't surprise any wildlife and bringing bear spray. There are far more moose attacks than bear attacks in AK every year. Please do not approach wildlife!

Will it get dark?

Only for a few hours!! We get over 18 hours of sunlight per day this time of year plus dusky daylight in morning and evening. The sky will never be completely dark! If you have trouble sleeping in the daylight you may want to consider bringing a sleeping mask.
