We are so excited to share the beautiful Kenai Peninsula with you all! That being said it is a challenging area to access and we want to make it as simple on everyone as possible. Below is some information that will hopefully help in the planning process of your Alaskan Adventure!
For the majority of people, flying into Anchorage and renting a car will be the simplest option to get to Cooper Landing (see Car Rentals below). In order to get the best deal on flights we reccomend purchasing them by March 1st 2024. After this, flights will still be availble but are likely to increase in price substantially. Both Alaska and Delta Airlines are good options.
Our celebration will be held in Cooper Landing, a small town in the middle of the Kenai Peninsula, 2 hours South of Anchorage. Renting a vehicle will give you the most flexibility on your trip to Alaska. Public transportation is limited and expensive and cities are spread out across the state.
We recommend renting a car thru Turo, which is like AirBnB for your car. Some Turo vehicles are eligible for pickup and drop off at the airport in Anchorage and some are not, please verify details upon booking.
If you are traveling solo, consider looking at the guest list and finding someone to share a rental car with.
If you are planning to fly in at a different time as the rest of your party and need a ride to Cooper Landing the Alaska Bus Company is a good option. (Follow this link to learn more.)
Note: Taxis in Cooper Landing are limited and very expensive. Its best to have a plan to get around the area before you arrive.
Cooper Landing does not have a grocery store. If you are planning on cooking your own food we would reccomend stocking up on groceries in Anchorage before making the drive to Cooper Landing.
If you do need to get groceries during your stay there are a few convenience stores with limited options (Wildmans and Grizzly Ridge). The nearest grocery store is the Three Bears in Sterling (35 min drive to the West).
Cooper Landing has a number of good local restaurants.
Gwins Lodge: local Alaskan food, indoor and outdoor seating
Two Brothers Roadhouse: BBQ, Pizza, and Beer, indoor and outdoor seating.
Kenai Princess Lodge: Upscale cruiseline restaurant, beautful views, good food, desserts, and cocktails. Indoor and outdoor seating.
Sunrise Cafe: Locals cafe and bar. Indoor Seating
Cooper Landing Brewing Company: Good local beer, small selection of good food from Blue Yeti food truck. Indoor and outdoor seating.
Lodging in Cooper Landing is limited and books up quickly. We reccomend booking early (before the holidays) to have the best pick of places to stay.
A number of properties have been blocked off for our guests to stay at. Take a look at the options listed below and call for availability. Make sure to mention us when calling to book. If you do book a room/cabin from the blocked off options please let us know via text, email, phone call, or a message on here so that we can remove it from the website.
If you don't find a place that suits your needs feel free to check AirBnB or search on Google.
Note: We would not reccomend staying at the Kenai Princess Lodge as there have been issues with them canceling guests rooms on short notice in the past.
There are two cabins still available, located right in the banks of the Kenai River
Note: The website is out of date and does not show current pricing for the largest cabin that is still available. Call for up to date information, pricing, and availability.

Cooper Landing Fish Camp (rustic cabins next door to Alaska Rivers Company- where we live)
Trout Fitters (cabins on the river)
Eagle Landing (high end cabins on the river)
Gwin's Lodge (cabins, lodge rooms and camping, restaurant on site)
Camping can be a good option for those unable to book far in advance, looking to save money, or just excited to experience REAL Alaska. There are a numer of established and unestablished camping spots for both tents and RV's in the surrounding area.
NOTE:
Alaska's weather can be unpredictable. Please come prepared for rain, snow (hopefully not), wind, heat, cold, humidity, and beautiful sunshine!
Both Black Bears and Brown Bears live in our area. Please practice good camp hygeine, don't leave food or scented items out, and carry bear spray.
