Q + A

What will the timeline of the day look like?

Keep in mind this is an Irish wedding, which means it's an all day affair! The ceremony will begin around 2:30. Following a short 30 min ceremony, there will be a drinks reception on the grounds of the house with canapés and lawn games. At 5pm, everyone will be called for dinner. We'll have a delicious 4 course meal and then dance the night away! Did we mention that it's an Irish wedding? That means curfew isn't until 1:30am! And for those who want to keep celebrating, the after party will continue inside Tinakilly at the Resident's Bar! So please pace yourself ;)

What should I wear? Is there a dress code?

The dress code for our wedding is semi-formal. Think floor-length gown, fancy cocktail dress, dressy jumpsuit and suit & tie. The ceremony will be on the front lawn, so you may want to avoid stiletto heels!

Will kids be welcome?

While we love your little ones, our wedding is going to be an adults-only event so that everyone can relax and enjoy the evening. We appreciate you making arrangements ahead of time so you can celebrate with us! However, we realize this is a destination wedding and many will be doing extended trips and may want to bring their kiddos along. So we are happy to help find sitters for anyone that needs one! If you are bringing little ones and don't want to fly with a ton of stuff, check out The Stork Exchange (https://www.thestorkexchange.ie/). They have travel cribs, car seats, strollers, etc. that you can rent. They will meet you at the Dublin airport upon arrival to drop everything off with you and then will do the same to pick it all up when you depart!

Where will the ceremony and reception take place? Will they be indoors or outdoors?

Both our ceremony and reception will take place at the same venue: Tinakilly Country House in Wicklow, Ireland. Our ceremony will be outdoors on the lawn (depending on the ever unpredictable Irish weather). The reception will be in an enclosed pavilion/marquee.

Is there accomodation on-site?

There is! However, this is where our immediate family and wedding party will be staying so for the rest of these rooms it is first come, first served. As of now, these rooms are fully booked. There is also a “glamping” option on-site if that is more your speed. Book their luxury tents through https://www.knockrobinglamping.com. In addition, we have a few other hotel options on hold - click on the Travel tab above for more info!

What general Irish travel tips should I know?

Some common questions/tips below. We're available for any other questions or concerns!

- For all things driving, check the Travel tab above!

- Ireland is actually two countries. In the Republic of Ireland, which makes up most of the island, their currency is the Euro. If you travel to Northern Ireland, which is part of The UK, their currency is the Pound.

- PLEASE do not order an Irish Car Bomb shot at pubs & restaurants. A lot of Americans don't realize this, but it is HIGHLY offensive to the Irish people and their history - not to mention, they will not serve it to you.

- Irish weather can be unpredictable and it rains often. So it's best to pack layers that you can add or remove. But May and June tend to be beautiful!

- Bring a power adaptor! Irish outlets accommodate three-pronged plugs that are different from those used in the US, but the same as those in the UK. To plug in an American electrical device, such as a phone charger or laptop power cord, you will need a plug adapter. These are very inexpensive on Amazon!

- The Republic of Ireland has two official languages: English and Irish. The latter is also known as Gaeilge or Gaelic, and there's a good chance you'll see it just about anywhere – road signs are usually posted in both languages.

Does Ireland require COVID-19 vaccines?

As of now, all vaccinated and unvaccinated travelers are no longer required to provide a negative test to enter Ireland. There is no quarantine required either. Travel restrictions do vary country to country though so please do your own research if you are traveling elsewhere. PLEASE NOTE everyone will need to provide a negative rapid test in order to return to the US. You can find more info through the US Embassy (https://ie.usembassy.gov/) and other resources!
