What is the dress code for the wedding?
Cocktail attire. We love to see everyone looking nice and spiffy, but also comfortable enough to break it down on the dance floor.
For our fancy shoes and heel-wearers, there will be cobblestone and uneven pathways at the venue, so we advise against wearing super tall, thin heels. But hey, if that isn't a problem for you, then go ahead and work it! *Not responsible for broken ankles ;)
Which airport do we fly into/out of?
Denver International Airport, which is about a 90-minute drive from Estes Park.
Where can we stay?
We have reserved lodging accommodations at the YMCA of the Rockies in Estes Park, which is about a 25-minute drive from the wedding venue. If you've marked "Yes" on your RSVP (which we highly recommend), we will reach out to you with details. For other options, please see the Travel page for more information.
How do we get around?
Ubers/Lyfts are sparse in Estes Park, so we recommend renting a car. With that in mind, there will not be a lot of parking space available at the venue on the day of the wedding, so please plan transportation accordingly.
What do we do for transportation on the wedding day?
On the day of the wedding, we will have a shuttle service that will pick up guests from the YMCA of the Rockies and go between lodging and the wedding venue. We highly recommend taking advantage of this option, especially if you plan on partying your tuckus off!
Are children allowed?
We are sorry to say, but young children are not welcome at the venue the day of the wedding. They are welcome at the Friday evening Welcome Party event.
What will the weather be like?
October in Estes Park can be anywhere from 70-degrees and sunny to 30-degrees and snowing! We'll keep an eye on the forecast, but we recommend preparing for warm days and chilly evenings.
What is the deal with altitude/elevation?
The wedding venue is located about 8,000ft above sea level, which is the average elevation that altitude/mountain sickness (also called AMS) occurs due to decreased barometric pressure and lower oxygen levels in the air. Most people will experience mild symptoms that will disappear in about 24hrs, however at 8,000ft and above is when these symptoms can become more serious.
We advise everyone to take these precautions when attending, regardless of age or general health: Drink 2-3x more water than you might normally, and arrive at least 1-day before the day of the wedding to allow your body to adjust to the higher altitude. If you have any concerns, ask your doctor.
What should we do if we get altitude sickness?
The fastest remedies for alleviating any symptoms are staying hydrated and descending altitude. If you or someone in your family/party is experiencing severe symptoms of altitude sickness such as wet cough, increased shortness of breath, or disorientation/confusion (also called HAPE), you should seek immediate medical attention as that can quickly become a medical emergency.
