How They Met (True Story)Kids, this is the story of how Alex and the one met…Once upon a time, after sixteen years in sunny California, Jessica felt God calling her back home to Texas. He had told her that her future husband was there — somewhere in the Lone Star State. Seven years went by, and after waiting (and waiting), she started to think maybe God had the wrong zip code or pocket-dialed the wrong person.Meanwhile, in San Diego, Alex was living his best life — working at FedEx by day and performing in musicals by night. He was single for eight years, soaking up the California sun, until a new job (and a nudge from above) brought him to Dallas to be closer to family.For years, they lived separate lives in the same city, heading in opposite directions. But as only God could orchestrate, their paths eventually crossed through a mutual friend named Martin.Both Alex and Jessica had confided in Martin about what they were looking for in a future spouse. Martin told Alex about a Godly, hardworking woman who had lived in San Diego and loved musicals. He told her about a guy who went to UPPERROOM … and also liked musicals. (Cue dramatic sitcom music.)The Meet Cute:Martin was hosting a Shabbat dinner at the clubhouse where she worked. She had no idea Alex would be there — in fact, Martin never even mentioned his name. When she first saw Alex arrive on his motorcycle, she immediately thought, Not interested!But Alex? Oh, he was intrigued. He enjoyed their conversation that night and decided he wanted to see her again. At the end of the evening, he asked for her number. She gave it to him — very reluctantly — and warned him she was busy for the next month or two with work and snowboarding trips. “If you’re willing to wait,” she said, “we can plan something later.”Alex didn’t hesitate- he said yes.For the next month, Alex patiently (and persistently) texted her until she finally agreed to a date.Their first date was at a cozy coffee shop, where they talked for four hours straight. Jessica left thinking, wow… this guy is impressive. Alex left thinking, This is someone I want to get to know better.By the third date, they both knew — this was something real. Something God-written. The Proposal (a.k.a. “The Legendary Picnic”)Fast forward to a sunny morning when Alex told Jessica he wanted to do something fun before they went to the Formula 1 race the next month. The plan? A picnic. But not just any picnic — a legendary one.He surprised her with a fancy bubble tent decked out with flowers, cozy pillows, music, games, a charcuterie board, and, of course, wine — all of Jessica’s favorite things.As they were about to play cornhole, Alex suddenly stopped her. He looked at Jessica and started sharing all the things he loved about her — every sweet, thoughtful detail. Then he smiled and said he had a present for her.That’s when he got down on one knee and asked,“Jessica, will you be my legendary wife?”Spoiler alert: she said yes.And that kids, is how Alex met Jessica

One of my favorite memories is when my mom's friends would ask, “Oh, are you the soccer player?” and I’d have to laugh and say, “No, that’s Monica.” She followed her passion and made them a reality—it’s still a little surreal seeing her on TV.

Kathleen is my best friend, and from the moment we met at Impact, we just clicked. We were inseparable—so much so that people constantly mixed us up. It didn’t take long before we started calling each other Twinsie, and the name stuck.

Han and Karen are my college best friends, and fate brought us together when all pledged Kappa Delta. We might have been the worst pledges in the chapter’s history, but our friendship was forged in those chaotic, hilarious days...

...By sheer luck, we all share August birthdays, celebrating together year after year until life took us to different states. So many of my favorite college memories include these two—from singing country music and going to All-American Rejects concerts to traveling for our birthdays. I’m endlessly thankful to have them by my side.

Catherine is my niece—aka mini Michelle. She’s funny, kind, and incredibly smart, with a love for cheering, playing volleyball and soccer.

Claire is my niece too. She loves doing hair and makeup and has the most caring, nurturing heart, always finding ways to make you smile. She also loves to dance—so watch out for her on the dance floor!

Alan is my 2nd oldest brother. When we were younger we setup cereal boxes in the middle of the breakfast table so we wouldn’t have to look at each other. We like each other better now. We constantly make references to Jim Carrey movies, Big Bang Theory, and Friends. They never get old!

Justin is my oldest friend dating back to the early 2000s. He has been around through it all even though we haven’t been in the same state for nearly 20 years. He is my car friend, fellow gear head, and racing buddy.

Garrett is my ride or die buddy! When he is not doing wheelies on his motorcycle he is flying airplanes. When we go riding it’s always an adventure! Every ride is always the best ride we have ever been on.

Anthony is my cousins daughter’s son lol. He is such a great kid and fun to be around! He is the brains of the family and the only one I know that can complete the Rubik’s cube.

To get to the Venue: Please make sure you turn right onto Henry Chandler Dr., then take your next right into the property. You will arrive at a security guard station with two lanes located to the left of the guard house. After passing through the guard station, make a left onto Yacht Club Dr. You will see a sign for Five01 — turn left there. Parking will begin on the right-hand side shortly after.
