It all started 14 years ago when Eric and I first met while working at HEB. He was too nervous to talk to me, convinced I wouldn’t enjoy our conversations. But despite the hesitation, we became friends, and our connection grew over time. Three years later, Eric moved on from HEB, and I was in relationship. Life took us on different paths, and we lost contact for a while.
Then, one day, I stumbled upon Eric’s Facebook page. We reconnected and stayed friends, but it wasn’t until six years ago when he asked me out that I realized how much I cared. At the time, I thought he was too kind and that I wasn’t good enough for him. But fate had other plans. Four years later, out of the blue, Eric messaged me on Snapchat, and we couldn’t stop talking.
We finally went on a date, and I promised myself that I wouldn’t let this amazing man go again. Since that moment, we’ve been inseparable. Our story is a reminder that sometimes, the right person comes back into your life at just the right time.
It was October 31st, a day that started like any other. Eric had come to my workplace to help me set up a new desk for my classroom. We were working together, tackling the task of putting everything in place when I casually mentioned that I had been thinking about getting a new plate for my room. I was hesitant, though, unsure if I should buy one now or wait in case we decided to get married soon.
By that point, we were almost done assembling the desk, but Eric had a different kind of surprise in mind. I noticed he was getting teary-eyed, and I asked him what was wrong. That’s when he opened up, telling me just how much I meant to him and how much he loved me. His words were so sincere, and then, with a smile through his tears, he told me he wanted to spend the rest of his life with me.
I was completely shocked. And then, in the most beautiful moment, he asked me the question I never saw coming: “Will you marry me?”
Without hesitation, I shouted a big, joyous “Yes!” The excitement and happiness we both felt were overwhelming, and we both couldn't hold back the tears. It was a moment full of love, and I couldn’t wait to start this journey together as husband and wife.
