What To Know If You Are Traveling
There is no public transportation in Linn County where Mound City is located. There are also no stoplights or fast food restaurants in the county. This should tell you how rural the area is. There are a couple small grocery stores, restaurants, and gas stations near Mound City for those who need something. There are also a few lakes, camping sites, and RV parks for those interested in camping or bringing something of their own to stay in. The closest Walmart is in Butler, MO or Fort Scott, KS. You can also find the traditional fast food restaurants there too. The bride and groom will not pay for any lodging or travel expenses for guests and the bride's parents have requested not to host any visitors in their house during the wedding weekend.

Maple Ridge Cabins
These are nice cabins for rent about 5 minutes from Shalom in the town of Mound City. Mound City has Dollar General, a small grocery store, a couple restaurants, a small downtown and a couple gas stations. Its also the county seat so it has a historic courthouse and historic village.
Travelodge by Wyndham Fort Scott
This is a traditional hotel about 35 minutes from Shalom via 69 highway. Fort Scott has one of the closest Walmarts, several restaurants, and other shops.

This is another traditional hotel about 35 minutes from Shalom via 69 highway. Fort Scott has one of the closest Walmarts, several restaurants, and other shops.
D&B Cabin Rental
Rustic cabins about 15 minutes from Shalom in the neighboring town of Pleasanton. Pleasanton has Casey's gas station, a family-run drive-in called Cookees, a grocery store, Dollar General, and a small downtown.
Cedar Crest Lodge
This is a very nice bed and breakfast about 20 minutes from Shalom on the outskirts of Pleasanton. Surprisingly upscale for such a small town.
Courtland Hotel & Spa
A vintage-inspired hotel attached to a spa in Fort Scott. About 30 minutes from Shalom.

A cute B&B out in the country. About 25 minutes from Shalom.
