We have been building a life together over the past few years and we are excited to continue this adventure! We are getting married!! Our celebration will begin with a ceremony at The Old Town Meetinghouse in Yarmouth, Maine and will be followed by a reception at the Ocean Gateway in Portland.
We are so happy to share this special time with you! If you are able to join us in Portland, we hope you can take advantage of the long weekend and enjoy all that the area has to offer. We have listed some ideas as well as lodging information under the "details" heading.
Please know that we are the first to understand the financial realities of traveling for a wedding, especially for one in Maine at the peak of the summer tourist season. If you are unable to attend, we still look forward to celebrating with you even from afar!
Ocean Gateway
14 Ocean Gateway Pier
Portland, Maine
When we set out to choose a celebration spot, it was clear from the beginning that we both wanted to share our love of Casco Bay with our family and friends. The waters of Casco Bay were not only an influential part of our childhoods; they have also played a significant role in our relationship. If we could make the logistics work, we'd squeeze everyone onto one big rock at the edge of the sea so we could all look out over the water together. Initially this is how we pictured our celebration; we just had trouble finding a rock that was big enough! So, the Ocean Gateway seemed like the next best thing.
The Ocean Gateway is a Ferry Terminal that welcomes guests from around the world to Portland. It was designed to resemble the prow of a ship and has floor to ceiling windows that offer a view of the working waterfront and islands of Casco Bay.
Catering for the evening will be provided by Maria's Ristorante. Maria's is a family owned Italian restaurant that has been serving the city of Portland since 1960. Hors d'oeuvres will be followed by a buffet style meal. Hearty salad, lasagna, eggplant parmigian and gluten free pasta with vegetables are on the menu! Non-alcoholic beverages including coffee will be provided. For those who are interested, a cash bar will offer a selection of beer and wine.
Parking
Parking directly at the venue is reserved for handicapped guests. Please note that there is quite a long ramp at the entrance of the venue. Guests who would benefit from elevator service should contact Chris and Jess ahead of time.
Street parking will probably be limited. Please be aware that Portland is notorious for enforcing parking rules and fines. Before parking on the street make sure you clearly read and understand signage. Street meters run for 2 hours and must be paid until 6pm.
Thames Street Parking Lot
This is an open-air "pay and display" parking lot directly across from the Ocean Gateway. We have 60 spots reserved in this lot. Simply tell the attendant that you are a guest and they will provide you with a complimentary parking pass. Please note that you must move your car at the conclusion of the reception. If the spots fill up, please be prepared to pay for a spot at Thames Street ($10.00) or use the Ocean Gateway Parking Garage (see below). *We apologize ahead of time for any inconvenience, 60 spots is the maximum that can be reserved.
