We would be honored to have our friends and family join us for our Aufruf during Shabbat services. Kiddush (post-service meal) to follow. This event is optional but any and all are welcome to attend.

What it is:

The aufruf is a traditional Jewish custom that marks the bride and groom’s transition into the role of a married couple within the Jewish community.

The bride and groom will be called to the Torah for an aliyah (the honor of reciting the blessings before and after the reading of a section of the Torah). After the aliyah, the congregation often sings a congratulatory song and throws sweets at the couple, wishing them a sweet and fulfilling marriage.
