Jessica and John's story began in March 2018, just 2 months before graduating from the University of Florida (Go Gators!). They immediately bonded over their love of music, food, travel, being only children, and a crazy number of mutual friends. Jess still remembers their first dinner date at Dragonfly in Gainesville like it was yesterday. For their relationship to bloom, however, they would have to overcome long distance, with Jessica bound for Atlanta and John moving to Charlotte.
As fate would have it, John began traveling to Atlanta for work, with Jess visiting the Queen City on the weekends. Together, they formed incredible friendships in both cities, while trying every brewery and sushi restaurant in sight. After nearly a year apart, John took matters into his own hands, loaded up a U-Haul, and moved to Atlanta.
In April 2019, Jess and John embarked on a vacation with John's parents (Mary and Hubie) to visit Hawaii. It was a trip of a lifetime that confirmed Jess and John's love for the islands, from swimming with turtles in Maui to hiking Queen's Bath in Kauai. Together, they made a promise to return one day.
Just as long distance became a thing of the past, Jess and John immediately faced a new challenge: a global pandemic. With working from home mandatory and the world at a standstill, how would they possibly cope you ask? With a puppy of course! Enter their golden retriever, Archie!
Fast forward to March 2023, Jess and John embarked on a rather important trip to Europe. With the Netherlands on the itinerary, Jess was surely convinced a tulip field proposal was on the horizon. But alas, John pulled a fast one.....instead opting for Lake Lucerne, Switzerland as the backdrop for their engagement.
As Jess and John searched for the perfect place for their wedding, all they could think about was their time in Hawaii in April 2019 and wanting to share that experience with everyone they love. With May 8th, 2025 quickly approaching, Jess and John are eager to show you why Maui has a special place in their heart and hope it will hold a special place in yours too.
