Q + A
The main question, Why a wedding in Hawaii?
Back in 2019, we took a family vacation to Oahu where we went zip-lining and did a movie site tour. On our way our way out to the gift shop we saw a sign that said, "have your wedding at Kualoa Ranch" Ruben and I both mentioned it would be cool to have a wedding there but didn't fully consider it. When we got back home, we made a joke to Rubens mom, Luisa, that we were getting married and it was going to be in Hawaii. Luisa didn't like flying. Ruben gave her a hard time that he was the only one of her kids left to get married and she wasn't even going to go. Time went by, and Luisa finally gave in and said she would fly to Hawaii for our wedding. We never told her it was a joke, I think by the time she agreed to it we were really considering it haha. Sadly, Luisa passed unexpectedly in 2021. After her passing, Ruben and I stuck with saying we were going to do the wedding in Hawaii and still take Luisa's ashes with us so she can fly in a plane and finally see Ruben get married.
Are kids allowed?
We kindly ask that young children not be in attendance of the wedding ceremony and reception. Its not often we all get to hang out in Hawaii with one another, we want all the adults to let loose and enjoy one night in Hawaii. Plus, Kualoa Ranch being a Hollywood set in some areas, and doing tours in others, we wouldn't want to get in trouble with children wandering off outside the perimeter or picking the flowers. The venue is an hour away from Waikiki and there isn't wifi, so if you bring your teenage children make sure they'll be able to survive without the internet and not being near the hotel.
Do we need a rental car?
Staying in Waikiki area, everything is walking distance or an uber ride away. Most tours around the island offer transportation. Whenever we go, we usually rent a car for a day or two to explore the island or go to the North Shore. Parking is limited everywhere on the island therefore both parking and gas can be pricey. Depending on how long you stay, I don't think a rental car is necessary.
Do you have to stay in the hotels listed?
Absolutely not! there are many other hotels close by that you are more than welcomed to stay at. We only chose these hotels because they're on the quieter end of Waikiki, still walking distance to everything and reasonably priced.
Is it an open bar at the wedding?
Heck yes! what kind of bartender would I be if it was a paid bar?! We are providing transportation to and from the venue with the pick up spot being at the Marriott. If you do not wish to stay for the entire wedding, you may want to provide your own transportation because there aren't many Ubers that are around the east side of the island and it is an hour drive from Waikiki to the venue. We are bringing some bartender friends to bartend our wedding. Bring some cash to tip them so they have some extra partying cash after the wedding!
Can I bring a Plus One?
Of course! You can bring more than one "plus one" just please make sure to include all in your party in the RSVP.
Do I need to RSVP?
YES!! We will need a proper head count for not only the food but the charter bus as well. With your RSVP whether it's on our wedding website or from our mailed invitation, please let us know if you can/can't attend and how many in your party. IF YOU DO NOT RSVP, YOU WILL NOT BE ABLE TO GET A RIDE OR EAT!! lol I'm being serious. Otherwise you be taking someone else plate and seat. Please RSVP by February 1, 2026
