Our Wedding

Chris and Jess both grew up in Cross Lanes, WV and went to school together for many years. They became friends when Chris was assigned to sit next to Jess in their high school calculus class. Chris used to pretend to not know how to do his math homework and he would ask Jess to explain it to him often. Jess caught on to Chris's act when he placed in the top 10 in the county Math Field Day that year. Chris and Jess remained in the same friend circles throughout and after college, but didn't see much of each other otherwise. It wasnt until 2020, when a mutual friend had a small get together at their apartment, that they reconnected. They've been inseparable ever since! Chris and Jess bought their first house together in April of 2025, and they've been working hard at making a home with their dog, Tucker, and their two cats, Rocket and Rogue. In August of 2025, Chris proposed to Jess on a kayaking trip with their friends (yes, he had the ring on the river!), and Jess said yes! They're so excited to celebrate their love with their friends and family soon!

What Guys Need to Know About Dress Codes

We would love to see our guests dressed to impress! We encourage sparkles, sequins, velvet, and any other fabrics or colors you might associate with New Year's.Please do not wear "casual" clothes (e.g., jeans, t-shirts, etc.) and do not wear white (with the exception of men's white shirts). Bridesmaids will be wearing red.

The lodge where Chris and Jess are getting married has an annual New Year's Eve party on December 31st. We hope to see you there!

The lodge where the wedding will be has a ski resort nearby. Chris and Jess are avid skiers and you may see them out on the slopes! They also offer tubing and ice skating in the winter near the lodge.

Timberline Mountain is a short drive away from the lodge where the wedding will take place. Jess grew up skiing here and it has quickly become a favorite for Chris!

White Grass is a nearby resort that offers cross-country skiing and snowshoeing. Let Chris and Jess know if you try it out!

Blackwater Falls State Park is a short drive from Canaan Valley Resort. It has a few short paths that lead to the falls, and it's a beautiful sight to check out! They also offer sledding, which is a great group activity.

There is a brand new spa that is a short drive from the lodge where the wedding will take place. They take appointments through their website or by phone. Jess highly recommends the sauna!

Canaan Valley Spa and Wellness Center

The town of Davis is a short drive from Canaan Valley Resort, and it has a few neat shops that you can check out! Jess and Chris highly recommend eating at Sirianni's and grabbing some coffee from Trailhead. Stumptown Ales and Big Timber Logging Camp are also located here!

The city of Thomas is a short drive from Canaan Valley Resort, and is an amazing place to spend some time! Jess's family history is heavily rooted in Thomas, and there are many art shops, stores, and coffee shops to check out there. In town, the Purple Fiddle has great live music, food, drinks, and ice cream. Mountain State Brewing Co. is also located here!
