If you're not a city person and are interested in finding your way upstate New York, then renting a car after the wedding would be a good idea. It is the perfect time of year to see the fall foliage. Taking a drive to the Hudson Valley will be beautiful this time of year. Depending on traffic, it is about an hour north of the city.

Long Island also has lots of beauty this time of year. You can either rent a car or take the Long Island Railroad (LIRR). Renting a car would be best as you can move around a bit easier. Lots of great fall activities in Riverhead and the Hamptons.
