Q + A

When & where is the Wedding?

It will be a Destination Wedding on Friday, April 26, 2024 at 6pm at Secrets Maroma Beach Riviera Cancun. This an Adults Only All-Inclusive Resort (all meals and drinks are included). We suggest guests arrive on either Wednesday or Thursday and depart on Sunday. Of course, if you'd like to arrive earlier or stay later, you are more than welcome to do so! We suggest you check aifare prior to deciding how many nights you'll stay. Typically, it's more expensive to fly on weekends. For example, flying Thursday to Monday may be less expensive than Wednesday to Sunday.

What is the deadline to reserve a room?

We have a limited amount of discounted rooms that are "blocked off". A $200 deposit per person (if double occupancy room), or $250 deposit per person (if single occupancy room) is required by September 7, 2023 to reserve one of these discounted rooms. The final balance will be due by December 1, 2023. Please click on the link on the main Home Page for instructions on how to reserve a room. If you do not place a room deposit by September 7, 2023, we cannot guarantee room availability or the discounted rate. The resort has advised us there's another wedding the day following ours, so room availability will be very limited that weekend. The longer you wait, only the higher level room categories will be available and they are more expensive.

How far is Secrets Maroma from the airport?

Secrets Maroma is approximately a 35 minute ride from the Cancun airport (airport code is CUN). You will have the option of including airport transfers to/from the resort when booking your room. To do so, you will need to provide your flight information (arrival time, departure time, airline & flight #'s). The additional cost is $48 per person (roundtrip from airport to resort & resort to airport).

Do we have to stay at Secrets Maroma or is there another resort close by?

No, you do not have to stay at Secrets Maroma. There are many resorts in the Riviera Maya/Cancun area! However, please be aware that since Secrets Maroma is an All-Inclusive resort, there is a $100 charge (per person, per day) to access the resort if you are not staying there.

What documentation is required to enter Mexico?

All passports must be valid for AT LEAST 6 MONTHS POST TRAVEL. If your passport expires BEFORE NOVEMBER 2024, we suggest you begin the renewal process as soon as possible.

What is the dress code?

Beach wedding attire. For women, a sundress, maxi or midi dress are acceptable. A skirt with a dressy top is also an acceptable option. For men, a collared shirt with slacks or chinos. A light fabric would be best as the weather will likely be in the 80's. No shorts or tank tops, please.

Are there any planned activities other than the wedding?

We will have a Welcome Dinner for all guests on Thursday evening from 7pm to 9pm.

Are there any other out of pocket expenses?

Secrets Maroma is an All-Inclusive resort so all meals and beverages (both alcoholic & non-alcoholic) are included in the cost of your room. The only extra costs would be if you wanted to do an excursion, spa treatments, or if you wanted to buy a bottle of wine at one of their restaurants (glasses of wine are included, but bottles are not). There's also an additional cost if you want to rent a bali bed/cabana at the beach/pool. Also, tips are not expected but they are very much appreciated and they do go a long way. We usually tip the beach/pool waiters, restaurant waiters, drivers, housekeeping, bellhops, etc. Keep in mind, it's not customary to tip 20% in Mexico, like we do in the US. US dollars are accepted everywhere, you do not need to exchange your money into pesos.
