Renee and I first met in 2017 at a Panda Game, where—thanks to some spontaneous British accents—we instantly clicked. From bonding over our wild nursing careers to becoming inseparable besties, it’s been a journey filled with laughter, support, and countless memories. Renee is the kind of friend everyone hopes for—loyal, dependable, and incredibly generous. She consistently goes above and beyond for the people she loves, which is why I feel so lucky to have her by my side as my maid of honour. Whether it’s a cozy picnic, a creative paint night, a little friendly competition, or a heartfelt chat over coffee or wine, Renee is always up for making any moment special. When she’s not busy caring for mamas and their newborns, she’s usually snuggled up with her sweet dog Sully and her amazing husband Blair, spending time with her family, or dominating the court in a game of hockey or volleyball.

Manon is my beautiful sister-in-law, and I feel so lucky to have her as family. While we may not share a ton of hobbies, we always have the best time whenever we’re together. Manon is truly an old soul—she loves to knit and cook, and she’s incredibly talented at both. One of her dreams is to one day have a little hobby farm with goats, which has inspired a fun tradition of visiting petting zoos together. She’s one of the most thoughtful and kind-hearted people I know, always spoiling us with amazing dinners and the most unique, meaningful gifts. And every now and then, she’ll even join in for a board game or two—another little moment that makes spending time with her so special. I’m so excited for all the family dinners, laughs, and memories still to come.

Julia and I met back in 2017 at Boots and Hearts, and we instantly bonded over our shared love for country music and cute boys. We were young, wild, and determined to have the most epic summer—and honestly, that’s the perfect way to describe our friendship. We've had countless unforgettable nights filled with music, laughter, and just the right amount of chaos. If there’s a concert happening, you can always count on Julia to be there, radiating good vibes and singing every word. And when she’s not living her best concert life, you’ll find her curled up at home with her cats and a great book. She always has the best book recommendations, which is just one of the many reasons I adore her. Julia is truly a sweetheart—an amazing listener with a kind soul and zero judgment. I’m so lucky to have her in my life.

Sarah is my oldest friend—we met while working at Splash Wave Pool, and it all started the day she asked if I wanted to take our breaks together. From that moment on, the rest was history. We’ve been through it all side by side—messy breakups, graduations, new jobs—you name it. Sarah has always been the one to lend an ear to my boy troubles, and while her advice could be blunt, it was always honest and exactly what I needed. Through every high and low, she’s been my rock, constantly cheering me on. You can always count on Sarah to bring the laughs—there’s never a dull moment when she’s around. These days, she’s pouring her heart, soul, and every ounce of energy into training for her first Ironman this August. We couldn’t be prouder of her and everything she’s accomplishing!

As most of you know, Ruby is my little cousin—and the only girl cousin on my mom’s side, which makes her extra special to me. I used to babysit her when she was little, and now she’s grown into a beautiful, strong young woman. Ruby is incredibly talented when it comes to sports—absolutely killing it in volleyball, basketball, and hockey. (I’m still working on getting her into rugby!) She may come off as quiet at first, but when you get some one-on-one time with her, you really get to see her shine. She’s smart, kind, and wonderfully well-mannered. Watching her grow up and find her passions has been such a joy, and I’m so proud to be her cousin. I can’t wait to see all the amazing things the future holds for her!

Arthur is my older brother, and the oldest friend I have had in my life. We've shared so many cherished memories throughout our lifetime, from long summers in the south of France chasing bulls, to playing games together all of our childhood, to now sharing the highs and lows of following the Vancouver Canucks. Arthur is a person I've looked up to all my life. The way that I dress, the way that I carry myself, the shows that I watch, and the music I listen to; all of it has been directly influenced by him. Arthur is a talented artist with a great voice, and has charisma and charm like I've never witnessed on anyone else before. Growing up, I don't believe that I truly appreciated how lucky I was to have an older brother that cared for me, wanted to share as many moments with me, and was always ready to protect me no matter what. Choosing Arthur to be my best man was the obvious choice, and I wouldn't have anyone else fill those shoes.

Jake is my brother-in-law to be. When Joani and I first started dating, Jake and I connected instantly. Most of the time visiting Joani in those days was actually spent playing hockey with Jake, either on the backyard rink, or in the basement. I was very fortunate to be able to play a year of varsity hockey alongside Jake in high school. Always ready to joke around, with his signature dry humour, Jake is fun to be around, and insufferable to play games against (I always lose against him). A talented artist in his own right, Jake is also a very hard worker who puts his head down and his best foot forward, and is always willing to coach me through my awful golfing tendencies. I look forward to the future knowing that I have a phenomenal brother-in-law that I not only get along with, but also love to be around.

Josh is my brother-in-law to be. While I didn't get to spend much quality time with him back in Joani and I's high school days, we've more than made up for that this time around. Through many sushi dates across the country, countless great moments shared, I've gotten to witness firsthand how much Josh has grown into an interesting, composed fine young gentleman. Josh is easy to be around; whether it's playing board games, playing sports, or when we're out doing shenanigans while traveling, he's always ready to have fun and create core memories. Josh is also a terrific sport and can take a joke as well as he can dish it out. I lucked out on future-brother-in-laws. I feel extremely lucky knowing that while Josh and I have already shared tons of core memories, the best are yet to come!

Cameron's been a close friend of mine since the start of high school. While you would think that with his physical stature, we would have met playing sports like rugby or hockey, this was not the case. Cameron is a strong individual that has figured out a lot in his life, except for how to properly coagulate his own blood. Cameron was the nucleus of my high school friend group. We would always go over to his house to hang out, and he was always incredibly welcoming and ready to joke around or cause some shenanigans. Cameron and I have been through a lot together over the years, and I've had the pleasure of seeing him go from a funny, smiling teenager, to a funny, smiling almost-adult. Cameron is a wonderful human being that I'm proud to call a close friend.

Some can say that Rob is the reason we are all here. Through Rob, Joani and I were able to meet for the first time, and he has cemented his status as the greatest wingman I could have ever asked for. I had the pleasure of sharing so many core memories with Rob, on the rugby field, in the halls at school, or through our trip to Vancouver. He has been a great friend for as long as I can remember, with a unique sense of humour that makes every conversation a memorable one. The perfect drinking and traveling buddy, I look forward to many more shared moments with him.
