What to Pack
What is the weather like?
Spring in Maine is beautiful. But much like fall, the temperature can differ vastly from early morning, midday to evening. For example, low 60’s in the morning, mid seventies and low 60’s in the evening.
Best tip - bring layers.
Especially if hiking or sunrise watching, mountain summits can be very windy and brisk.
What kind of shoes should I wear?
For ceremony, we recommend flat shoes due to the terrain.
For reception, you can choose to glam it up.
For the weekend, consider the different activities you want opt in for, like walking shoes (in Bar Harbor we will likely walk a lot), hiking shoes (if applicable), etc.
Location
Is the wedding taking place indoor or outdoor?
The ceremony will take place outdoors and should rain be in the forecast we will provide umbrellas for everyone.
The reception is also taking place outdoors, but set up can be adjusted to be indoors should there be inclement weather.
Please note because the reception is outdoor, and will take place in spring, please bring a covering (whether wrap, or warmer) because it will be cool in the evening.
How accessible is the ceremony and reception?
The ceremony location is a short walk from the parking lot and down about 10 stairs. Please be advised the ceremony will be done standing, there will be no chairs available during this time. The ceremony will take a maximum of 30 minutes.
The reception location is more accessible, walkable and wheelchair accessible.
What time should I arrive at the wedding ceremony?
Transportation will meet guests at the hotel entrance and leaves at 2PM to transport guests to the ceremony.
Will there be a time gap between the ceremony and reception?
There will no gap of time other than commute to the reception. The drive from ceremony to reception will take about a half hour. We will join you halfway through the cocktail hour.
What time does reception end?
Reception will end right before 9PM. There will be no after party. We have a lovely sunrise hike the next day as newlyweds! But there will be plenty of opportunity for us to spend time together during the weekend.
Food and Drink
What type of food will be served at the wedding?
We'll be serving hors d'oeuvres at cocktail hour followed by a sit-down dinner with a choice of entree and of course dessert.
Will there be an open bar?
Yes, reception will be open bar.
I have dietary restrictions, are there places in Bar Harbor that offer options?
Bar Harbor is extremely friendly to dietary preferences and restrictions. Please let us know if there anything specific we can consider it ahead of time.
Photos/Video
Am I allowed to take photos during the ceremony?
We know how hard it is to refrain from capturing all the lovely moments. But nothing would make us happier than having everyone be present in the moment. We ask that there are no pictures taken during the ceremony but the reception will offer opportunities for pictures.
We will also have a professional photographer with us that day that will take many incredible pictures of us.
Will you be a recording of your wedding?
Yes, we will be doing a 360 degree Virtual Reality camera recording of the ceremony.
Can I post wedding photos on social media?
Now we know this will be even harder, but we are asking you to withhold posting pictures of the bride and groom (all done up) on the wedding day until we’ve had a chance to make our own social media posts.
