It all began on a chilly fall evening—October 7th, 2022. Jodi was out enjoying an Edmonton Oilers game with her brother, sister-in-law, and a group of close friends. After a victorious Oilers win, the night carried them to Cook County Saloon in Edmonton. Little did she know, fate was waiting on that dance floor.

Enter Cass—Jodi’s bold and hilarious wingman—who spotted Eric across the room and took matters into his own hands. Marching up, he asked three questions: “Do you golf?”, “What hockey team do you cheer for?”, and most importantly, “Are you single?” Eric, slightly amused and a little confused, thought, “I don’t bat for that team…”—but Cass wasn’t asking for himself. He had someone special in mind.

And just like that, Eric met Jodi.

As the night went on, Jodi’s friends slowly trickled away—after, of course, getting the all-clear from Jodi herself with her signature “I’m fine.” Left with Eric and his friend Mark, Jodi danced the night away, and by the end, she and Eric had exchanged numbers. What followed was a flurry of messages, a first date, a second date… and the start of something truly unforgettable.

In 2023, Jodi made a big move—leaving her hometown of Edson to start fresh in Leduc. She bought a duplex and moved in with her girls. Although Eric had a home of his own, their connection was undeniable, and they quickly became inseparable. Soon, Eric was spending more time at the duplex than his own place.

After a year of managing two homes, they made the decision to fully merge their lives—selling the duplex and settling into their forever home together.

Then, on March 29th, 2025, Eric asked the most important question of all—and Jodi said yes.

Since that night at Cook County, their love has only grown stronger. What started as a few bold questions turned into a lifetime of laughter, adventure, and unwavering connection. They can’t wait to start this next chapter, hand in hand.
