A baraat is a celebratory wedding procession for the groom involving live music and dancing before the wedding ceremony. It was originally intended to welcome the groom and his family to the wedding venue (historically the bride's family's home). The groom is usually seated on a ceremonial horse (or car or elephant) as the guests lead the way to the ceremony.
Expect fun music, dancing, and lots of energy to start our wedding ceremonies.
To make it official, we will be having two wedding ceremonies (why have one ceremony when you can have two?)
Our Hindu wedding ceremony is a vibrant and meaningful celebration filled with traditional rituals and symbolism. Throughout the ceremony, the bride and groom partake in rituals around a sacred fire to signify the couple's lifelong commitment. The event concludes with blessings from elders and lively festivities, marking the joyful union of two families.
After our Hindu ceremony we will be hosting a dinner and Garba for our wedding guests. Garba originates from the Gujarat region in northwestern India where Sharvil and his family are from. Garba is a traditional Indian dance that involves circular movements, rhythmic clapping, and footwork performed in groups.
Bring your Garba outfits or brightest attire and meet us on the dance floor! Don't know how to Garba? Don't worry, we'll teach you on the day of. The steps are easy!

Join us for our Christian ceremony on Saturday afternoon for the sharing of vows, exchanging of rings and readings. The ceremony will be officiated by one of Joelle's best childhood friends, Caitlin Burgess.
After our civil ceremony, we will have a cocktail hour, dinner, speeches by friends and family, and dancing. Be sure to locate and sample the infamous Pittsburgh Cookie Table!
We hope you join us for the conclusion of our wedding ceremonies and meet us out on the dance floor (because that's where you'll find us most of the night!) If you're lucky, you might just see Sharvil break it down...
