Do you have a hotel block for guests?
Yes, there are room blocks at the Nantucket Hotel, The White Elephant and at the Jared Coffin House. Please see the Accommodations Tab for details.
When should I arrive?
The Welcome Dinner starts at 5:00pm on Friday, so we recommend you plan to arrive on Island prior to then so as to not miss the sunset on the Harbor!
How do I RSVP?
After we send the official invitations, an RSVP tab will be live on the website. When you RSVP, you will be able to select your meal preference for each night as well.
What is the weather like in Nantucket in October?
Difficult to say... They say if you don't like the weather, just wait a minute. Most likely the temperature will range somewhere in the 50-60's during the day, and get chilly at night. This is our favorite time of year to be on Nantucket!
What is the dress code?
Friday and Saturday we request that you join us in dressing up in Cocktail attire for the Welcome Dinner and Semi-Formal attire for the Ceremony/Reception on Saturday. (Semi-formal attire is a suit and tie, but no tuxes for men and elevated cocktail attire for women.) The Farewell brunch on Sunday is casual.
Will the ceremony be inside?
The ceremony and the reception will both be indoors. However, the Welcome Dinner is on an enclosed patio with heaters. It is usually quite comfortable, but please bring something warm if you tend to get chilled. (And don’t forget to check the weather forecast.)
Is there an airport on Nantucket?
Yes, there is a small airport in the middle of the island with commercial flights through American Airlines, JetBlue, United, and Cape Air. In October, there are fewer flights on the major airlines, however, Cape Air has regular departures from Boston on their 10 seater propeller planes. There will be Taxis available at the airport that can bring you to wherever you need to go on Island.
What transportation options are there on the island?
There are Ubers, Taxis, and Lyft on Island, as well as "The Wave". The Island is also very bike-able and has miles of bike paths along many of the main roads.
Are kids welcome?
All events are adults-only events. If you would like to bring your children to the island, we would encourage you to make arrangements for babysitters in advance for all events as we will not be able to accommodate children. Please contact the Nantucket Hotel for any suggestions on babysitters or check with local babysitting services.
Will there be any vegan, vegetarian, or other special diet options available?
Yes, you can select this option and share any restrictions you have when you RSVP
Can I bring a plus one?
Unfortunately due to limited space at the venue, we have to limit to guests listed on the invitation.
What if I missed the RSVP deadline?
If you do not RSVP by the deadline on the invitations, we will mark your response as a "No".
WHAT IS ALL THE FUSS ABOUT ALTER ROCK?....QUOTABLE AND NOTABLE!
A quote from Away Off Shore
An Island and Its Altar
It is a faraway place on a faraway island but well worth the trip. Altar Rock set atop Saul’s Hills, one of the highest points on Nantucket. Tradition has it that this glacier-scored boulder was once sacred to the island’s Native Americans. Certainly, it is hard to resist a religious sense of awe when standing beside it.
The view is breathtaking, particularly in the fall when the gently rolling heathlands that stretch out in all directions (known locally as the Moors) are tinged with red and yellow. Although it is not high enough to enable one to see Nantucket in its entirety, Altar Rock is the best seat in the house when it comes to imagining how the island originally came into being (Nathaniel Philbrick, Away Off Shore, Mill Hill Press, 1994, 1).
More color on Altar Rock can be found at the Nantucket Conservation Foundation website.
